Cybertruck demo drives are currently unavailable near your location. Update your country in the locale selector dropdown in the top menu, adjust your zip code and/or pick another model to search again. Leave your contact information and we will follow up with you.

Anyone here take a demo drive? Is it a heavily neutered experience? I have one on Wednesday so I can report back.

I live less than 3m from a delivery center (the service center got moved to another location).

There was maybe 2m total that the demo drive consists of (probably closer to a mile and a half). They are definitely trying to get as many people a chance to drive one as possible.

If I compare it to other test drives I have done at Tesla, it is very neutered. They also have a Tesla employee riding along in each of the 3 trucks they were using.

Other models is: "here are the keys, come back in 30-40 minutes, have fun"

Despite all that, I highly recommend experiencing a test drive if you can. As someone who has a CT delivery right around the corner, I wanted my wife to drive it before we signed paperwork and I've scheduled another drive myself.

Hope this helps.

Haters are just going to hate.
That’s good news. Hopefully haters can schedule an appointment and actually drive a CT for themselves.
Compared to our MX, it is much longer but not that much wider. Because we have hurricane bracing on the inside garage door, I've already had a close call. OK, so the garage door did hit the hood but dang, there was NO mark or blemish that I could find..
Yes this is a really good suggestion. I was contemplating trying to find someone who would park in my garage for a "test fit" and offer them 100$. But like you, I have my VIN and just waiting for truck to arrive.

I'm really happy I was able to schedule one for today because I know I get to drive it before I finalize.

Not available to ‘everyone’.. depends on your zipcode..

And I suspect they are not available here in SoCal because they are selling (and sitting in used lots) like hotcakes…

I just went around the block for ~5 minute drive. It's obviously not enough but you can make sure to squeeze in whatever you want to test (accelerating, steering, ride heights, etc). The steering is so jarring that I was driving pretty slow and cautiously on the 4-5 turns that I did haha. There was a CT on the floor that I could spend as much time as you wanted to play around and sit inside, so if yours is the same, just focus on driving and you can take your time checking out the car itself after.

They are but you have to know the exact zip code to enter. They don't recommend nearby locations that are doing test drives.

I suspect This is simply a strategy to gain more interest in the area where sales are ‘low’

Thanks for clarifying. I might just cancel mine because a short drive like that is essentially pointless for me. I did have the chance to play around with one at my local service center while my cars were in service. I somewhat understand why they're limiting it but still sucks.

Edit: decided to cancel my appointment. I already had something else to do that day and I think I'd be cutting it close. Will just wait to do a drive.

I did my test drive in Austin a few weeks ago, I brought a friend as well on the demo. Was not able to go onto a highway, just a set path around a few blocks. Truck was very dirty (Expected due to back to back 1/2 hr appointments). Like the quiet ride, steering took a few turns to get used to. Was impressed at the quick acceleration even just touching the pedal.

I placed my reservation within 20 seconds of the launch in Nov 2019. I loved the CT from the beginning. I waited over 5 years to purchase, waiting for the price to get to the $80K point. I was ready to make the leap years ago and the more time goes by, the more I have to think about justification for the CT since I am now 69 years old and looking at full retirement.

I must say, the delay has basically forced me to rethink purchasing the CT now. Trying out the CT was nice , but comparing to other vehicles in this price range, not impressed enough for me to spend this money. The purchase would be more of a want! - a toy for me, not a practical purchase. So the delay and the test drive has now given me clarity to not do the purchase. This is a logical financial decision for me now, regardless what I may desire.

Anyone on the wire for the purchase, I definitely would tell you to do the Demo. Even find someone who may have a CT and see if you can test drive it first. Just comparing this CT to the Model X shows a huge difference in looks and ambiance. I would rather buy the X at this point.

Would you pull the trigger at $79,990?
I was ready years ago to pull the trigger at $79990. but now it would mean adding another 6 years of payments. at my age now, not worth it.
