I have the same sound. What’s the issue with the drive motor? Is it expected to fail or is it just a sound?

Dang it. Hate hearing that. I wish they could just quickly swap and move on. My sons 2017 S had a rear unit swapped almost same day, was quick. You have many other issues besides drive unit? I have several cosmetic items.

So mine didnt fail or anything. I was in service for a Wiring Harness Recall, and when they fixed my wiper motor at my house, the didnt position the wiper in the correct position. So it was hanging over my windshield. I had just come back from a huge road trip to Canada, when this noise started. Figured while it was in for other service, I would get them to look into the sound... TIL that was probably a very good idea.

I agree. I’m 53 and loved my Model 3 for 4 years but this is even cooler. Driving experience is amazing. Really enjoying this truck.

Waiting for parts. Been 2 weeks now on a loaner Supposedly on Monday. I love my Cybertruck, but going to start ticking the boxes on the Lemon Law criteria we have here in Georgia.

Same for me, waiting since this past Monday. Was supposed to get today by 5 but then they said can’t get to it. Now est completion is end of next week. Ugh.

Got mine back today. So after they replaced the front drive unit, and topped up the coolant, I got a low power Turtle mode error. The repair was finding an air bubble in the coolant. Got it back, and the noise is gone.

How long were you without the truck? I turned in December 9 and they've just had it sitting in parking lot since then, saying they're experiencing delays in their shop. "Supposedly" scheduled for Dec 19 completion, but now doubt it. Nothing I can do obviously, just wait, just not a great experience when it's an "appointment".

I got it today and installed. Haven’t tried it yet.

Tesla has had my truck since Dec 9 and haven’t even worked on it yet. Said major backlog and now moving estimated completion date to Dec 31. Is that acceptable service? Obviously have no option but to wait but this is terrible. Any others have similar experience?

Just bumping up this thread. Any updates from anyone? I have the exact same noise. Seems like the consensus is it’s a front drive unit issue and once it’s replaced, problem is solved? The whole process seems to take weeks right?

Wouldn’t take weeks if they could just start working on it. Mine is almost ready, replacing the unit, tech said a 4 hour job, but mine was sitting in their parking lot for almost two weeks. It’s a process for sure. They seem so backlogged.

Shop said they have only seen a few of these.
I heard it in their demo? actually sounded worse than mine and persisted way longer.

After all these years making EV's and this is what they send out. ?
