I would highly caution against this. It’s exactly what I did to my truck all around! Same tint paper The windshield included. The only problem is the roof is duel pane. The heat rejection goes right to the outer glass and it will crack and spread. I tinted in March right after getting the truck and it cracked in August. I have never heard of Tesla warranting something like this. See my thread on this exact issue. That roof glass repair is just over $2k. Mind you I live in sunny Ca. We had several very hot days of 100 degrees plus. It was only 81 degrees out when mine started to crack and while I was in the truck. Will not/should not crack inside as it was the outer glass. I had to have the tint removed then take it back to Tesla to have them have a “specialist” confirm it was not due to impact.

You know thinking about this - this might be exacerbated by the fact it is laminated - double-panes of glass with an adhesive/bond in between AND an extreme temperature DIFFERANCE.

My thoughts are the Tesla 'Cabin Overheating Protection' Aka AC going on INSIDE the car while it is 105 OUTSIDE the car when standing still/parked cause a very large thermal difference between the 2 layers of glass. The tint on the inside adds to the problem slightly as it does not expand/stretch the same as the inside glass layer.

When the car is moving the air cools the windshield and roof exterior - so the temperature difference is much less.

Of course no manufacture would admit this...

Let me say this, that’s sounds exactly right!!!! My truck has endured temps as high as 105 degrees while sitting at the fire station I work at. The day it cracked I was at a Tesla charging station, it was only 81 degrees outside BUT I was inside AC on and not moving. I’m sure some degrading took place possibly but it started cracking and spreading. Roof was in direct sun light at noonish.

My roof is tinted been since day 1 in April and no issues. Have an added interior 20% tint and an external PPF tint on outside.

Maybe an external PPF tint is the way to go on the roof to be safe. I’m honestly not familiar with external tint though.
