I saw this question in another thread, alas with no answer. Since I have the same issue/question, putting it in an explicit thread.

Has anyone have any experience with Michelin Defender LTX Platinum tires on the Cybertruck/CB?
I currently have the Pirelli's which came with the truck new. Only 22k miles on the Pirellis and i'm hitting the wear markers. Tires were rotated as recommended. I prefer the AS vs the AT ride.
Any comments?
Choice between the Pirelli Scorpion OEM tires versus the Michelin Platinum tires?

I have an August 2024 FS AWD, with 22K miles, original tires. Picture below. Per the Tesla SC two of the tires are at 3mm, two at 5mm, “time to replace them”.

I find 22K miles very early. Always drive in chill mode, only when on FSD in Standard mode. From the 22K miles, maybe 500 miles were off road with deflated tires (down to 30-35), all other miles 50/50 highway and urban driving. Not going above 80mph. Main use is in California, so no heavy rain, snow, ice, etc.

From browsing other tire threads I believe the best choice would be either the Pirelli OEM or the Michelins?

Questions, concerns I hope to get some responses on:
-for my use case, are there other, better choices?
-would new Pirellis last longer then the 22K miles I get on the stock ones?
-would the Michelins last longer?
-any differences between the two that are important to know? I do not care a lot about the tire noise, nor the impact in range.
-I would do the Pirelli at the Tesla CS, or the Michelins at Costco. Anything that the SC can/will do better then Costco?
-what about the tire pressure monitors, will be the same for both?
-what did I forget to think about?

any hints are appreciated.

The TPMs are on the rim side not the rubber side so you shouldn’t have to replace those unless one’s broken.
My first set of AT on my FSCB got 40k miles, never used the perrallis.

Choose the Pirelli Scorpion ATR Elect if you want to maintain the best possible range and the quietest ride as intended by Tesla.

Choose the Michelin Defender LTX Platinum if you find yourself replacing tires frequently and want a tire that will likely outlast the factory set in terms of mileage

my experience overall for years
Michelin is great

If you like efficiency do not buy Ltx platinum they weigh 65Lbs a tire vs. scorpion at 45Lbs.
Lots of other options that won’t destroy your efficiency.
I swapped my LTX for Hankook ION HT 45Lbs no regrets and improved efficiency.

Lots and lots of posts and threads with your question OP. Just call out sick from work and search these forums.

I also had the same question as you 6 months ago. My Pirelli Scorpions got me about 24k miles before hitting 3-4mm. With a set costing around $2k, I didnt want to be swapping out tires every year, so I did a ton of research and landed on the Plats. Mainly for their 70k mile warranty but the sidewalls look really nice imo.

Yes the Plats are not as efficient as the Pirelli Scorpions, I cant tell the difference with any road noise but going 2-3 years before having to pay $2k for new tires greatly out wieghs a few extra miles or a few extra dollars worth of charging.

I replaced Pirelli tyres with Michelin on the second week after I bought my CT. Used them for about a month and switched back. Michelins are noticeably less comfortable (you will feel every little bump on the road) and more noisy (not super bad, but noticeable). Also, the Michelins killed efficiency by about 20% (I have Tessie installed and was able to compare more or less objective numbers). The Michelins look better and potentially have better tread life/off-road performance. Just choose what is more important for you.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions on my LTX efficiency.

You will love the Hankook ion HT for your next tire

I have an August FS Beast with about 36,000 miles on the originial tires. I drive on normal or hurry and do some quick starts on occasion.... There are not a lot of tight turns for me though. Not high-speed curves either. As a consequence, my tires are all in the 6-7mm range still. It must either be my lack of speedy curves or maybe smoother roads here that has been good to me.

I'm curious with how mileage varies from person to person with these tires. Some people get as few as 15,000 miles on a set. I'm not particularly tire friendly but I'm on the lucky side of the range. Interesting to me, at least.

I read most of the posts on the forum and ordered a set LTX from
Costco last week. Getting them installed next week so I'll be able to comment more after that. For me it was the 110,000 km warranty. I got 35,000 km's out of the Goodyear AT's. I also have a second set of wheels for winter with Duratrac's which are not great for efficiency but good for my winter usage!

Thanks for all the responses.

It sounds like a decision between a 20% range reduction (Michelin) versus an additional new set of tires: Pirelli 25K miles (for me two years) , Michelin 50K+ miles, replace after four years. Although range reduction of 20% sounds an awful lot from just tires, but will not cost $2000 over two years. So looking at just costs, Michelin for the win?

Will look into the Hankook ion HT, not sure who carries those.

Just as TyPope asks, I am curious also to the mileage people get out of their tires. Maybe a poll is in order?

i dont use Tessie but how sure are you that the 20% is just from the Plats?
The 20% is over 60 miles of range, I'm not seeing anything close to that.

Since 14.2 Im driving with 99% FSD (75% Hurry, 20% MM and 5% Standard. Ive also had just over 5k miles with the Plats which I got at the end of December 2025. There isnt much Wh/mi difference.

I went with the Costco Michelin Defender LTX Platinum. I’m not seeing that much difference in mileage going 156 miles round-trip to the lake for SCUBA Diving. I also haven’t noticed really any significant difference in ride quality. I had the core tires and replaced them at 32,940 miles. Lots of freeway driving and some offloading :)

I will confirm 20% improvement in efficiency going from LTX to hanook ion Ht.
Last drive to Hillsborough,Tx. Arrived at 4% from 100% with LTX, this time arriving 24% with Hankook. Craxy improvement if you ask me.
No how do get get even more efficiency gain forged wheels and get another 10% :)
