When you consider wrapping or not, what are the contemplations?

I thought for sure I would just ride it stainless steel for a while and then wrap it later.

my tax guy and his wife both have cybertruck and the first thing he said to me was “it’s impossible keep clean wrap it right away!”

The fingerprints and stuff don’t really bother me.

Did you wrap or keep it nude? What were your considerations?

I do like the look of some of the wraps. But I’m also receiving a cyber beast, so I also kind of like the look of the foundation series stamp and the three headed dog on the back.

Also, I have this mobile detailer guy coming by the house that usually does both of our cars. What would he do with the stainless steel cyber truck? I mean, of course I need the inside detail but what will he do to the steel?

100% wrap it. Keeps it clean and no finger prints. Looks WAY better in a color too. I did an ultra gloss black wrap. I love it. Hates always say - "I hate the cybertrucks this one is dope"

If I did do a wrap, it would likely be a black color

Keep it stainless camp for me.

it’s ridiculously easy to keep clean.

Mine is taking on a patina after 6,000 miles and seems to show less finger prints and other stuff than I’d imagined.

Wraps can get damaged more easily and gloss anything shows far more dirt dust and road grime

Love the stainless, but I mainly wrapped mine to not get confused every other CT in the exact same color/finish.

As for the Beast etching, there are decals for that...

This is a good point.

Im really looking to get away from thinking about auto paint and caring for auto paint.

I usually always drive black or white cars - so its always waxing, machine polishing, detailing and in more recent years ceramics etc.... kinda over it and want a break.

Some wraps are looking great. I believe that no matter how many stainless unwrapped CT’s are out there, it will still be the classic. I don’t see many wrapped deloreans. It’s iconic.

No shame in driving the classic. But having that said, I’ve driven wrapped vehicles for the last 15 years. I’ll wrap my CT at least 3 times just to change it up.

there are pros/cons of cleaning either.

Stainless for me. I can always wrap it later. It's not like I'd have to do paint correction prior to wrapping! Also, while fingerprints were a thing at first, as soon as I washed it with regular old car wash soap, I haven't noticed fingerprints much at all. It was almost as if fingerprints were more prominent due to some kind of coating Tesla had on it. Probably not but I CAN say fingerprints do not show up much... SO little, in fact, that this "wash my truck every week guy" has only washed his Cybertruck twice since I got it on 27 August. Still looks good!

I live in an area in Tennessee where I am the first CT. As you can imagine, I get LOTS of attention.
For now, I think the natural Stainless Steel is the way to go, but I don't rule out wrapping some time in the future. I would go with a color that is similar to the stainless steel color.

Can anyone share experiences with wrap durability? I'd hate to have to rewrap every 1-2 years. Ideally I'd want to have it last 5 years. How does it hold up with highway driving and gravel roads?

I took delivery 05/30/24 and was all set to drive it to the wrap/tint shop the next day.

It looked so good in SS though. I ended up just having the tint done to 'think about it'.

That was over four months ago and the longer I go with SS, the less likely I am to wrap it.

It's so easy to clean. I've never washed it since delivery. Just Sprayway window cleaner and some microfibers 1x a week or so. Quick ~20-minute wipe down and I'm done.

It's awesome not worrying about it. The SS has developed a slight patina.

This is what the owner's manual says about that:
Note
It is normal for the stainless steel exterior to mature over time, resulting in minor changes to the reflective properties and color of the metal.
I learned very quickly how to open and close the doors without leaving fingerprints. It's really easy. And for those times I have new people in the truck, the fingerprints are much less of a problem now than when the CT was new. And, I've got a microfiber and small spray bottle of Sprayway to easily wipe them off, haha!!

tl;dr: I didn't wrap it and probably never will. The CT is ridiculously easy to keep clean in SS.

I'm in the stainless camp.

I have the finger-grips in the door jams so I don't get that many fingerprints, but those I get wipe off easily with Sprayway. I'm treating this truck like all my trucks have been treated. I don't worry about keeping it clean and shiny like my cars.

To me, wraps are terrific looking, but demand to be kept clean.

Mine stays stock for now. Main reasons:
1) All other CTs that I've seen in my area are wrapped, so mine being stock looks more unique (IMO).
2) My CT lives outside, and rain does a good job of keeping the raw stainless looking somewhat clean. If it were wrapped, it would require much more care.

I might just stay in the stainless camp at first for a while. I used to love the look of the DeLorean and I never owned one so this is like me being able to have a DeLorean on steroids.
