I had a Model S Plaid, went with the AWD. Why?

I rarely drove the Plaid in Plaid mode, it was too twitchy. While I enjoyed the power, the one thing I definitely would have found more useful on a few trips was added range, even 20-30 miles would have meant the difference of not charging on a long day trip vs needing to make 1 supercharger pit stop.

I like the fact the AWD is lighter, has longer range, still has plenty of power on tap (600hp is nothing to sneeze at) and has mechanical lockers on the front and rear vs. front-only for the Beast. I'm averaging 3 mi/kwh over 1,200 miles - pretty close to what I was getting on my Model S Plaid on 21's - which is outstanding. More then 340 miles of real-world range as opposed to the Plaid which had closer to 260-280 miles real-world. I do miss the three-headed Cyberbeast logo though...
completely agree - I love speed and Beast is awesome.. but the 20K and reduced range alongside the general uselessness of the crazy speed makes the AWD more real.

Saving my sheckles for the RoadsterII....

I have an XP that I drive in plaid full time. The extra sensitivity only bothers me when I'm in very icy conditions. My wife drives it in chill.

We shared the XP as our other vehicle was ICE. Getting the Cybertruck largely meant we each had our own car. Driving the Cybertruck full-time made the beast or AWD question harder for me. The one added factor was that the AWD would come much faster. So it was how fast I'd get it, cost, and range vs long term enjoyment.

In the end I decided that I'd regret getting the slower AWD since I enjoy plaid so much. Once or twice a year I drive longer ranges. So far I've taken one 1600 mile trip. I'm happy to trade an extra stop or two on that trip for the daily fun I get out of beast mode.

With everything, everyone is in their own situation and makes decisions accordingly..
