Just gives me more time to save up that down payment and maybe buy some more Tesla stock.
I just hope the Nissan van can hang in there until they build mine. I average 20k miles a year and keep it maintained so there is hope.

I am not surprised or disappointed either as it will give me time to save. I just ordered my CT trimotor the other day. I currently drive a 2007 4Runner with 297,600 miles on it. I keep it maintained as well.

Nope. No point since FSD doesn't go where I'd want a pickup to go.

Is it going to navigate the isles of the hardware store to where I can pick up my lumber? Go to the marked spot in the landscaping supply outfit where I need to wait for the tractor to dump bark? Navigate to the unmarked campsite I want to go to which may not even be on a map?

Maybe it makes sense for a 2 seater taxi car used mainly for moving people from one part of the city to another, but I can't see being FSD only for a long long time for my uses.

Seems like some people aren't up on the news since the Cybertruck launch. On top of all the other issues Tesla was already facing getting the Cybertruck to market, a few things have happened since the launch announcement.

Firstly, a global pandemic broke out killing millions of people and has intermittently shut down every major economy in the world.

Supplies of everything has been tight. Shipments of products in nearly every major category have suffered months long delays. Nearly every durable good on the market has been delayed at some point in time during the past 18 months. The vital supply of microcontrollers and other chips has slowed to a trickle with manufacturers disabling functionality and shutting down multiple factories and huge product lines as a result.

Every major auto maker has shut down production of cars and trucks for days or even weeks at a time due to critical component shortages. Ford & GM can't produce their hugely profitable trucks and Broncos right now.

Governments have mandated limits on how many people can be in a building together, causing a massive restructuring of the modern workplace to accommodate large amounts of remote work.

We had a 3 month shortage last year of **toilet paper**. TOILET PAPER!

It's possible Tesla has some nefarious plot to rob you of your $100 Cybertruck deposit. Or perhaps some of these other issues have taken their toll on the shipping date of the truck.
Yup, and more problems.

There has also been months long extra backlog of container ships coming from China, Taiwan and many other countries (probably Italy too). There are also delays at shipment receiving ports in U.S.

durable goods, auto parts & large qty of semiconductor components would be shipped by ocean.

This might have slowed delivery of IRDA 6-ton Gigapress needed for Cybertruck.

German technology and engineering group Bosch, which is the world’s largest car-parts supplier, believes semiconductor supply chains in the automotive industry are no longer fit for purpose as the global chip shortage rages on.

Key Points

Bosch believes semiconductor supply chains in the automotive industry are no longer fit for purpose as the global chip shortage rages on.

German car giants and semiconductor suppliers should figure out how the chip supply chain can be improved, according to Bosch board manager Harald Kroeger.

Semiconductor supply chain issues have been quietly managed by the automotive in the past but now is a time for change, according to Kroeger.

I did it, I bought this today with the news of the delay on the CT, I have to have a truck and I was pushing it driving the M3 for almost a year as it is. I'm keeping the M3 and will trade both in when the CT finally comes in.

Wow, that was quick. I saw your post earlier, where you expressed being used to having a truck. Hope it all works out well for you.

I am disappointed. I have always bought old and broken and rebuilt and repaired because I had to. This cybertruck is my first new purchase for myself, not my family, kids, or wife, just because of my want. As such, I have been anticipating the day I sent the money to purchase my very own shiny new super-truck. Still, I recognize the logic of your statement. I too will save and save and buy more Tesla stock as consolation. At this rate, though, the fantasy of buying one outright, instead of financing one, is less a specter of want and possibly a tingle of real.

It’s a shame this as happened because CT basically Put electric trucks into peoples minds now all the other brands Have copied but unfortunately they’re going to get theirs to market quicker then Tesla because there been around way longer than Tesla. There not as good as Tesla but there way better getter The vehicles to market. Everything Tesla does gets copied,
There going to lose loads of sales because people don’t want to wait.
I’m not one of them people I’m going to wait. I’m in Uk so probably 2030 delivery.

The single motor Cybertruck will be the last trim line to be assembled in 2023. My Tesla salesman in Honolulu told me that when I placed my order in May, 2021. I’m retired and am in no hurry.
I wouldn't count on that single motor CT. I bet they don't even produce it.

Anticipating delays, I purchased a Model Y to tide me over until my Cybertruck would be ready.
SO GLAD I did.

I'm enjoying the Model Y - but unfortunate so is my wife :sneaky:

I'll be trading her in when the Cybertruck is ready [ the model y, not the wife  ]
We have a model 3 and the same situation. Erika will allow me to drive the Tesla occasionally IF she doesn't plan on using it. However, I will be selling the trucks and keeping both the Teslas.

SOURCE Sawyer Merritt on twitter:

The Cybertruck has been delayed to late 2022. "Production starting late 2022 and volume production in 2023". This is per a company wide conference call with employees.

[Admin addendum: Elon did add this about the Cybertruck: "It will be a special project. Like a glitch in the Matrix. Like if Neo had a car."]

I have a 2017 Jaguar FPace diesel, paid off and just turned 50K miles. Easily gives me 40 miles per gallon and I work from home, so plenty of life on it and I guess I have to wait.

So there you have it folks. Volume production will begin in 2023. If you are 100,000 and above for your place in line, start thinking 2024, or later, the further down the list your spot is.:cry:
