Btw, love the logo!!
Wouldn't mind getting a patch or even a pole with that logo.
Thanks! I literally just thought of it in the moment and got to work on it. I'll have to revisit that in the future for sure!

I was able to get some decent drone footage of the site this evening of the site excavation. It looks as if they are already moving extremely fast for just 1 week of work (Elon mentioned on Wednesday during the earnings call that they actually began construction over the weekend). A few things of note:
  • This turned into a totally unplanned thing and I literally spent all night actually putting together footage into a somewhat presentable video, created a logo, and a youtube site quickly (mainly so it would be faster for future videos). I worked on it until I fell asleep in my chair a little after 5am and after getting 5hrs or so of sleep, I finished it up and it's now up at the link at the bottom of this post.
  • I can now see why Elon called this an 'ecological paradise' as you can see extreme care is being taken even during excavation to leave a lot of the existing trees and foliage and these for sure will be implemented into the design of the entire facility.
  • I wouldn't be surprised if there were several main buildings given the unique layout of the land and as you can see, many different trails that the equipment has already created, obviously for specific reasons.
  • Lastly, this is actually a pretty difficult area to get drone footage due to the major power transmission lines running directly through the middle of the site on one side, and Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA), just a few minutes down the highway on the opposite side of the factory. These 2 issues cause intermittent interference, tons of air restriction warnings, and geofencing where DJI software used to control the drone won't allow it to proceed and automatically reroutes the drone whenever it gets about halfway to the southernmost end of the site (the end where the near highway traffic is approaching from/towards the airport).
  • Lastly, I just want to get this first set out quickly and I'll be working on a side project for a more professional presentation for future pictures and videos. Hope everyone enjoys as this place is going to be amazing!

GReat video.
You are right this is a unique building site.
I would love to see a Cybertruck off road test area built on site. Maybe with water crossings, hill climbing area etc.

You know what? That never even crossed my mind but upon hearing you say it, it would make perfect sense and is something Elon would probably do just because, it's insanely cool!

Yep, they'll be collecting rocks from all over those 2,000 acres for the test facility. BTW this property is way larger than Giga Berlin. It would be really cool to have a driver education facility, The Tesla Driving Experience! Also I wonder about Elon and Kimbal building some homes overlooking the river. Anybody else notice there's a 280 acre solar farm 6 miles away?

It would be fun to go down to Texas, pick up your Cybertruck and be able to take it on the testing facility off road course.

Magnificent! Well done, great editing. It looks like your were flying pretty high. Would there be less restrictions at lower height? I guess Tesla owns all the land from the Toll road to the river. They have a lot of water they need to move. But with your video it gives a much better perspective of just how much land this is. To get to the point they are already at takes a tremendous amount of planing and permits. They are not just playing in the dirt with all that equipment. They already have the exact final layout of the land and drainage. Tesla had to of been in possession of this land and in planning for months.
I’d bet Tesla has owned this property before the CT unveiling . That doesn’t happen in a month. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been working on this for a year.

If Tesla had this property for a year the factory would have been complete. Did you not see the progress on the factory in Shanghai? I don't even think ownership is set in stone yet.

I haven’t paid attention to the Shanghai factory at all. I do know that getting a project of that magnitude rolling takes an awful lot of pre-planning, environmental impact, site engineering etc.etc.. It’s very frowned upon to show up with that much equipment and start moving earth without everything in place. I know Tesla definitely has the ability to fast track projects, say, faster than a shopping center or neighborhood but it that factory is larger than both, put together. it would be cool to know all the Exact details and how long this has been in the works. However, I’m super stoked to see construction going, and am very much looking forward to parking that badass truck in my garage!

I agree, seeing how much has already been done on the construction front, IS AWESOME! I was feeling a little worried that we are 8 months from the reveal and it felt like Tesla was dragging their feet. Knowing how difficult and time consuming it can be to build a project of this magnitude, I was having serious doubts on the timeline for our Cybertrucks. Now I'm stoked, because the process is much further along than any of us thought! BRING ON THE CYBERTRUCK!!!!!

Seeing where they are in July 2020 I can only think one thing. Barring some unforeseen event I do think the factory (the building itself) will be fully operational by the end of 2021. Maybe even summer 2021.

So I would have to think the only obstacle preventing production starting on time would be involving the truck itself. Getting the tooling perfected to be able to mass produce such a unique vehicle. Testing. Meeting government regulations, etc. Thankfully the most complicated bits (drive units, battery, software) won’t require much time for development.

Tesla may have a few problems.

The protest movement currently engulfing many cities across the country is heavily anti-capitalism and what better symbolism of capitalism is there at the moment than Tesla.

Also, the UAW has a bone to pick with Tesla. They've been trying to unionize Tesla for quite some time without success.

The construction of the Tesla factory could become a target with protests and even vandalism and sabotage of the construction equipment.

Austin is very Left-leaning and this will be a dilemma for them. Do they support the protesters(and UAW) or Tesla?

I am at wit's ends to even guess how it will all play out.
