Should be pretty close I think. Is there any rhyme or reason to how the vins are assigned to cars. Ie beast vs AWD. AT vs core, white vs grey etc?

Grok estimates that, in total, there have been 49,677 Cybertrucks sold by the end of Q2 2025. Does that help?

Cybertruck VIN StructureHere's a digit-by-digit breakdown for a typical 2024 Cybertruck VIN (e.g., something like 7G2CEHEDxRAxxxxxx, where "x" varies):
PositionMeaningDetails for Cybertruck
1-3World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI)7G2 = Tesla Inc., truck (applies to Cybertruck and Semi).
4Make/Line/SeriesC = Cybertruck.
5Chassis/Cab TypeE = Truck, left-hand drive (LHD).
6Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)G = Class G (8,001–9,000 lbs.); H = Class H (9,001–10,000 lbs.). This varies by configuration (e.g., dual-motor vs. tri-motor).
7Fuel TypeE = Electric.
8Motor/Drive Unit/Braking SystemD = Dual-motor (standard all-wheel drive); E = Triple-motor (performance, i.e., Cyberbeast). This is the key digit for identifying the Cyberbeast variant.
9Check DigitA calculated value (0-9 or X) for VIN validation; assigned by Tesla per federal regulations.
10Model YearR = 2024; S = 2025 (and so on, following the alphabet).
11Plant of ManufactureA = Austin, TX (Giga Texas, where all Cybertrucks are built).
12-17Unique Serial NumberA sequential production number (e.g., 000001 for the first truck produced, up to 999999). This is assigned in the order trucks come off the assembly line.
Do the Last 5 Numbers Tell How Many Trucks Were Made? Not exactly the last 5, but close—the last 6 digits (positions 12-17) represent the production sequence number, indicating the truck's place in the overall manufacturing order. For example:
  • A VIN ending in 000001 would be the very first Cybertruck produced.
  • One ending in 019888 would be the 19,888th Cybertruck made.
This sequence is shared across all Cybertruck variants (dual-motor, Cyberbeast, Foundation Series, etc.), so it doesn't reset for specific models. It directly reflects the total number of Cybertrucks produced up to that point, regardless of configuration. As of mid-2025, production has ramped up significantly, with VINs reported in the tens of thousands.

Tesla Cybertruck VIN 100,001 yet?! ow-to-tell-what-in-production-you-are-based-on-vin

If you have a specific VIN, you can estimate its production order by looking at these digits (subtract 1 from the number if it starts from 000001).

Notice that there should be a different letter in Position 8 to designate the forthcoming single-motor RWD Cybertruck.

If D is dual-motor and E is tri-motor, then in theory it would make sense for C to be single-motor. However, I have not seen any reported RWD CT VINs yet.

Unfortunately no, it's not that simple. Tesla doesn't use all VINs; sometimes VINs get skipped. So the VINs overestimate production.

Earlier this year, the documentation for the cantrail recall revealed that something like 46,000 CTs total had been produced. The VINs at that time were at about 65,000, so the VINs were running ahead of production by around 19,000. The difference may have grown since then.

I love my Foundation Series Beast. However I've been staring at these Cybertrucks gathering dust in a lot near me for over a year now... they're just not selling like cheeseburgers at the new Tesla diner. Come on, people— these bad boys are the ultimate multitaskers: a beastly on- and off-road truck... A zippy sports car that handles like it's dodging bullets.... and if you've got a business, they're basically a tax write-off on wheels!

These trucks should be selling themselves faster than a meme goes viral. People, do yourselves a favor and snag one of those weekend test drives—it's likea free therapy session with four wheels. I wish Tesla would crank up the referral rewards back to $1k and toss in a $2k discount to turbocharge sales before those credits vanish like a bad dream. Seriously, wake up don't be sleeping on a free $7,500 discount—talk about missing the electric boat!

Most folks have zero clue or the wrong ideas about Cybertrucks....I've been a 4x4 truck junkie for over 50 years, and this one slaps a goofy grin on my face every time it chauffeurs me around town. FSD* even nails it on dirt roads, no sweat. Or crank the cruise control to a leisurely 3.5 mph (or whatever snail pace you fancy) while 4x4-ing—just steer, eyeball the screen and road, and watch it truc along like a futuristic tank... who knew adulting could be this fun?

Save yourself a buck or two using this referral link - HURRY it Ends Soon must take delivery before September 30th 2025... https://ts.la/richard49265 - do yourself a favor and get FSD before its 20k....

It would be cool to know who owns the vin before or after my vin to see if it is the same build (beast or non beast it should definitely be a foundational series) and the location that it ended up at Arizona, Nevada, Colorado ect. if anyone has next number please respond
