What’s the deal with soft close tailgate not working on any Cybertruck

Wait, these have a soft close tailgate? Damn, I did not know that. I've been doing it all wrong.

I think if you're used to a normal truck tailgate, the muscle memory makes you a bit heavy-handed. We love our R1T, but the tailgate is h-e-a-v-y, so it took a while to reset my brain when closing the CT tailgate.

From what I heard (from my local SC), all Cybertruck work is currently being done at the SC only (probably a training initiative for the Ranger service folks that they want to complete before sending them out).

Mine started doing the same thing. After 4 months of working it stopped working yesterday. I will try a reset and see if it works. My SC is 4.5 hours away so i will try and fix it. I dread that drive.

How do you do a reset? Did it work? Mine stopped closing all the way yesterday. The soft close works it just does not close tightly?

It takes more work for me to slowly close the tail gate and cary the weight of it up just to get that “soft close” satisfaction then it does just for me to slam it so I rarely get to experience it ?

It hasn’t fixed itself yet via software update like I’m speculatively hoping for. Don’t know of a way to reset it and no one to ask since SC sees it as operating normally. I can get soft close to sort of work by gingerly closing it. And yes mine certainly does not close in a flush tight manner although is secure seemingly.

When you say "reset", do you mean the soft reset for the vehicle where you push in both of the wheels on the squircle and hold them until the screen goes dark and reboots?

Did it ever close flush or tight? Mine did until yesterday. Now there is clear play in tailgate. I can push it to where it is flush and forms a tight seal with the tonneau cover. But it does not stay there.

My cyberbeast soft close tailgate has never worked ( delivered 9/7/24) like the original demos where it latches and then draws it into its final position with motors. Today I checked the same demo today and it was seemingly disabled. I went through several other customer delivery trucks and none worked correctly now. Is it a software lockout? WTAF is going on?

Mine has always worked…never has not worked

I assume that’s what was meant by reset which I have tried.

That is NOT a reset of the system... only the screen. Thta's probably why RandyS asked.
Go into the Service menu and do a system reboot. That should reset everything in the system.
