What happens if you can't take delivery in a timely fashion?

Apologies if there is a definitive thread on this somewhere - I couldn't find it. Please point me there if there is one.

I've seen varying answers to this question, so I want to ask again. Does anyone know, definitively, what happens if you're not around to pick up your CT once the VIN is assigned and you've been notified it's time?

I ask because I will be out of the country at various times in 'mid-to-late 2024' and so might not physically be around when my VIN comes in.

It seems like options might include:

• you finalize payment/insurance/whatever through the app and they hold it for you
• they assign the VIN to someone else and you go to the end of the reservation queue (months/years away?)
• they assign the VIN to someone else and you get put back in the build queue (weeks away?)
• you finalize it via the app and then venmo the delivery specialist $100 to park it in the back behind the dumpster and tell everyone you picked it up

How long will they hold it for? Anyone have any clarifying info?

I tried calling my local tesla service center but gave up after 20 mins on hold.

Have you ordered yet or are you waiting for an invite? AWD or Beast? If you were to order today You still would have to wait for the vin which could take a while judging from the tracking info. Once you get the vin and pay for the truck,you should have a backup plan to fly back to the states to pick it up. If you are waiting to order a Beast I would not worry. We are not getting those any time soon. Let us know your status. When I bought my YP I picked it after one week sitting at service. I don’t think one or two weeks will hurt you as long as you coordinate with them.

You technically get 3 days to pick it up once notified of its arrival at your SC. If you don't take it, they give it to someone else and put you at the top of the line for the next delivery to that SC. As with anything Tesla, YMMV.

I reserved early, and got the mail to configure at the end of December. I ordered a beast, with the "mid to late" delivery estimate. So, I'm confident it'll get here this year, I just hope I'm here when it does!
