There's nothing wrong with my baby yet, but it's new for me to hear about people scheduling Service Center appointments for small things.

I've always had used cars, and whatever I couldn't fix would just stay broken unless I thought it was worth a mechanic.

What have you scheduled a service appoint for, or what's your guideline for doing it?

Charge port door broke. It’s been fixed same request Beast logo on tailgate was only 1/2 etched from factory, they swapped the tail gate. Advisor said keep it as is, it’s like a crushed penny and will be special someday. I did not.

lightbar install request was denied with comments will contact you when your bar is available in this area.

Frequency for service appointments is going to be a personal choice with a number of variables. Someone super anal with a near-by service center will probably go far more often than someone less anal with a service center hours away.

Personally, I did setup a service visit for a leaking tonneau, missing tonneau slat, and misaligned tailgate. Leaking issue and tailgate were fixed, missing slat was not. Mainly wanted the leaking issue fixed. Truck still has ~3.5 years for the bumper-to-bumper warranty, so unless there is something more critical going wrong, I’m just going to keep a list of issues and have them all corrected at once.

I’ve made 3 service appointments- took possession 2/26/25.

First: had 4 issues to be evaluated: the charge door was blowing open with wind gusts when parked, tailgate panel was wobbly- driver door rattling at 65+- and I forget the fourth thing. Once service ends the history is deleted (or blocked from customers view) and you cannot view what was asked for service and cannot view what was done. To schedule service- just did this all in the App.

BTW- the door rattle & charge door were not fixed. Those issues persist. There were new interior window scratches on the small triangle pillar windows so they must have popped the dash or something. The scratches are now tough man scars I guess. No fixing them.

Second Service Visit: the tailgate wobble needed a replacement panel and it took a week to come in. I worked with Tesla on the phone to know when to reschedule- that option of contacting by phone is no longer available to me so all service has to be done by text on app. Again- there is no description of what service was complete in the app. I picked up after hours and so no one was there to ask what was done. And when I try to ask in the app- you have to schedule a new service to get a question answered on previous service. This repair of the panel was done and was great.

Third Service: CT died 2.5 hours into 6 hour road trip away from home just 12 hours street leaving the last service appointment. It was towed to a service center near that location. That triggers a new service appointment Without A DATE- but at least you can text the service center what happened before the breakdown and then the service center will get to your CT whenever they have a chance. There is no way to know when until they text you.

That’s Tesla Service in a nutshell shell for this noobie.

My CT is my primary vehicle, not my spare weekend car. With the local service center usually taking a day or two to even start work and the overall absence of loaners I typically won't take it in unless I can't fix it myself or can't fix it myself without the risk of breaking something.

Many of us are more than 2 hours away so we don't do them frequently. If you're close then as often as you have a problem.

They can replace just 1 slat?
