My delivery center said I needed to pay by the date the truck hit their lot. That was a week ago and it's still not ready for delivery, but I was not given any options. I said I'd bring a certified check on delivery day and they said no and that they would allocate to someone else if I didn't pay sooner.
This is not right, I think the person you are talking to is not following the process or does not know. They allow you to upload a picture of your cashier's check that you can bring with you on delivery day.

I took delivery last week. I waited until I could inspect the vehicle in-person to make final payment. You absolutely do not need to do ahead of time.

My lender said I could have a check to deliver, but Tesla said it needed to be mailed PRIOR to pickup. If hand delivering a check, I would not be able to take delivery that day. I switched to a wire because the check payment added no value.

As an aside, I see why Tesla has hit a wall on new sales growth. This isn't my first Tesla, and I'm taking delivery at a new location. Both times had their unique difficulties. For this one I had to print and sign all documents and overnight through UPS. This was a lot less easy than electronic documents I've been accosutmed to, or just sitting down and doing the paperwork at delivery. I have had insurance and a loan for a week that I am paying for, I am likely still a week from delivery. No way to get anyone on the phone, delays with answers via email or txt messages. I am certain at least half the people I know just wouldn't have the capability to get through this process, versus the handholding at a standard dealer which is just simple.

I am very sorry, I know this has probably already been discussed a few times at this point but I can't seem to find the relevant threads.

I have received my VIN and delivery date, completed all steps in the app including registration, insurance, agreements. The app keeps saying "Complete your tasks to avoid delays in delivery", clicking continue takes me "Make your Final Payment".

I am paying in cash, before I make the $108,000 payment is there anything that I need to make sure? I am about 10 days out from my delivery date.

Are people paying in full only after inspecting their vehicle in person on delivery date? That seems like the smart option but at the same time I do not want anything to delay my delivery.
Did it 2 days before delivery date from my business account with a routing and account number fthrough "Plaid" system when I was prompted to. No issues.

Your service center/advisor is being extra difficult. I did all the signing electronically. I got the loan approved but did not close it till I got the confirmation my truck had landed in Seattle. Got the check delivered and handed it to them after inspection. The only thing that delayed things was the containment hold due to pedal recall, but other than that, everything was as smooth as it could be.

I was told that the process is different because my delivery location is on tribal land. I'm not sure if they are using this fact as an excuse to make things more challenging or if this truly changes the process, but this was quoted to me in two separate text messages.

My first pickup was easier, but the location was 4 hours further away. I'm not sure what would've been better this time, 8 extra hours of driving or the hoops you need to jump through for a tribal land delivery.

In Michigan, I was instructed that I had to pay in order to not delay delivery. They said it cannot cross state lines unless it is paid in full. I got my VIN on 05/01, and still awaiting a delivery date. Paid in full.
I was told the same thing. I paid on 4/3 and I am still waiting for delivery. Good luck.

I received my VIN yesterday. Today received a text asking me to complete the Payment task to prepare for the delivery.

In the app, the schedule delivery and final payment options are greyed out. I submitted the financing application yesterday and it says my documents are pending review.

Seems a bit of a disconnect between the text message and where I am in the app.

For those who applied for financing, how long did it take to get the approval?

I did not even have the option to pay until I was invited to schedule a delivery date.

Thank you everyone for the responses! I confirmed with the service center and they confirmed that a cashier's check on delivery day is perfectly acceptable, so that is the option that I plan on moving forward with.

Does service center require that you email a photo of the cashier's check as proof of funds prior to delivery?

I took delivery on 2024.05.10

Made sure my bank was linked in the app. Inspected the truck and then submitted the finally payment. It took me to the next steps to accept delivery. Zero delay in delivery. I would not give anyone that much money (put half down) before seeing the vehicle. They can go pound sand if they think I’m going to hand over $60k sight unseen.

My $0.02

No, they didn't ask me for that.
Good to know. I got a text in the Tesla app saying that final payment can be made via ACH in Tesla App prior to delivery, Wire Transfer, or Certified Bank check in hand at delivery, and that Wire Transfer / Certified check proof would need to be sent to [service center email address] prior to delivery.

The dealership manager needs to get so fired like yesterday.
