Those will work. They will be a bit smaller than stock but will do the trick.

I am in the Green mountains of Vermont. I prefer to have blizzaks, but i am going to run Duratrac RTs. No, these wont be that great in ice like blizzaks will, but I suspect I will get by ok.

I am being lazy and dont feel like swapping my tires 2x a year. But as soon as a real winter-tire comes out in the full size (285) I will get those.

- I think I will be confident on most roads with the duratracs in normal snow storms.

- I do think I will worry when those rare perfect (terrible) conditions hit where the roads ice over quickly and I have to drive up hill. For that purpose, I will keep chains handy but dont plan to use them more than 1 - 2x this season.

I will be sure to share more experience. I live up a MAJOR steep dirt hill with two turns...

Alighty. I ordered the originally listed ones. I had Blizzaks on my old Tahoe in NY and they were incredible. Taking no chances with the CT here in NH. I imagine bumper repair wait times on the Cybertruck are measured in years. lol

See you out there!

p.s. Nice wrap! Did Reid do it? He did mine.

FWIW Tirerack had to call and confirm the order since it’s not OEM size. The guy was joking about the call being a waste of time as he said of course it will work.

i just saw that Tesla released an official winter tire and wheel package for $3k. people are saying this is only 10% better than the stock all seasons, so i guess blizzaks are still the way to go ?

I would be afraid of melting the bizzaks. They work amazing, I even looked at getting the studs, and they recommended not to because the rubber is so sticky on ice, and studs actually make it slicker. But in my BMW M3, very light in comparison. Any time it was warmer than 50 degrees out, I could smell the burning rubber when I pulled into the drive.

i never said i would drive this in the summer. i'm in seattle and will be driving winters from Nov-Apr and going to the mountains. so yeah i guess temps might get close to 50 degrees in the city at times. sticky on ice is what i want

I bought a set of spare CT rims off eBay and ordered the blizzaks from Costco. All things considered (shipping and installation) they were cheaper than tire rack. I double checked with a friend of mine who's a discount tire manager and he said they will fit no prob on stock rims. I'll have them ready to go here in the next couple days.

No, it may be much better than 10%. 10% is the minimum. For example, Michelin CrossClimate 2 are also 3 peak rated, but they actually out perform some pure Snowtires during winter testing.

Nope. I didn't see anyone say that, I think you misunderstood. This is a new version of tire that is too new to have a good idea of how it will perform on snow and ice. It certainly won't be as good as a winter tire with a dedicated winter rubber compound on ice, but it might make a lot of people happy in winter conditions, it's too soon to tell.

The 10% better you mention was not for this specific tire, nor was it comparing it to the OEM all-seasons. What we do know, due to it having the 3 mountain peak snowflake icon, is it can accelerate at least 10% faster on ice than an unknown reference all-season tire used by the tire industry as a baseline.

But that's not saying much, in part because it could be 40% better. And in part because it only measures acceleration, not braking or cornering. We also know that many AT tires without the 3MPSF have enough ice performance to get the 3MPSF icon, but the manufacturer never bothered to apply for it for various reasons.

ugh ok... thanks. i also wonder whether the blizzaks will be heavy ev truck friendly, as i know the winter tire package will be. however, if it's half price or less to get the blizzaks, might still be worth it even if they get shredded in a season or two.

i'd rather have a "winter tire with a dedicated winter rubber compound on ice".

sweet. why did you get spare rims? costco will do a swap for $50.
It's a better practice for the tires to remain mounted and a lot more convenient to just able able to swap wheels without needing mounting/balancing. Tires and rims can be damaged during the mounting process, creating slow air leaks or creating a safety hazard.

I have 23000 referral credits. It's annoying I can't use them towards the winter tire package.
