The wiper should be in another box inside that brown box. I keep my extra blade in the frunk

Tesla Cybertruck Who else carries an extra wiper blade with them? img_5080-jpeg
You are correct. I removed the blade and inspected it after delivery. The outer box was flattened.

I may find another location for the blade, never know.
I like to keep my frunk empty. This makes a nice seat to sit and enjoy a snack, meal, weather, even people watch, during charging.

Just received my Tesla wiper blade via UPS today. It fits perfectly behind the rear headrests. Who else carries an extra wiper? Where do you stow it?

I have one too. It’s in my under rear seat storage box along with tie straps, winter preparedness stuff and a box of golf balls.

Everyone who claims to store a spare wiper blade in the frunk, the bed area or inside the cabin should reconsider. Being a rubber product, wiper blades are subject to degradation in storage and prefer a cool, dry place. All of those areas get very hot, especially in the summer. If the rubber is already partly oxidized and hardened by the time you install them, the service life of your wiper blade will be shorter. Rubber has a shelf life.

Fair point. I’m out of the wiper carrying mission.

I've been driving and taking road trips for over 45 years and I have never changed a wiper blade on a road trip…
But even a less than perfect one is going to get you home.
Due to the blade length, the attachment is a weak point. There has been more than 1 instance of the BAW snapping off.

On any other vehicle, you could swap the blade from the other side in an emergency. When the BAW breaks, you’re without a wiper.

I purchased a new blade at 6 months, and kept the old blade as a backup. I’m still trying to figure out where to stash it, though. Too damn big for the smuggler's bay!

no thanks to the rainX manual says not to!
The manual cautions against glass coatings, but I think it’s just CYA weasel-wording. I’ve found RainX to improve wiper effectiveness dramatically.

Coatings can induce “chatter” due to the lower coefficient of friction, preventing the blade from tilting over in the direction of travel. It should be eliminated by ensuring the blade is perpendicular to the glass when parked.

Has there? I read about people who didn't know you had to clear the window of snow and ice before running the wiper motor, and that's true on ICE vehicles too. But I haven't heard of a Cybertruck wiper just randomly "breaking off".

I've put the Big Ass Wiper through the wringer and if it can handle this, I'm not going to worry about carrying a spare with me (turn the audio up):

The manual’s definitely wrong about Rain-X because if your windshield has Rain-X you don’t need to use your wiper!! Let’s be real though it still does because auto wiper does what it wants.

Did Rain-X improve their formula?

I ask because I tried it years ago, back when I only drove ICE cars, and I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I told everyone who would listen how great it was. But that only lasted a couple of months because I soon realized I needed to spend too much time maintaining it or it would turn into a smeary mess! I would need to strip it off periodically and reapply. I threw in the towel and never went back.

I applied from a bottle from 2007, works fine still. I just do it around the first of the month on most of my cars. Takes 20 minutes to do five cars. I drove my CT 400 miles in a heavy rain storm and barely had to use the wiper. Even with FSD, I would just turn off the wiper and it did fine until it turned into a really heavy downpour, then I had to switch the wiper on to the first setting. FSD did slow down to 65 saying conditions are limiting it from going any higher. But I was happy.

I’ve never had any smearing issues with Rain-X. You do need to reapply it about monthly as it naturally wears off. I just follow the bottle directions, the first step is to clean and dry the windshield before application, I think this steps probably pretty important. Then after you apply it and get the fog you do need to buff it kind of like a wax, until it’s clear. Don’t need to use wipers, keeps your windshield extra clean and FSD cameras love it. I would think with Tesla being so all-in on photon sensors they’d embrace such a massive vision enhancer, kind of weird they advise against it.

Why not just have 3 ready all the time? ;)

I have got to learn how to photoshop with the new fangled AI programs while my grand kids are still gullible!
Without this forum I would not know about Santa mode. I’ve met four Cyber truck owners who did not know about ho ho ho. Hey three wipers would be great for decorating sometime.
