Why no $7500 credit for regular production AWD? Read the small print.

I just don't get something here, Ford Lightning is only 29% use parts and it get the $7500 Credit, The Cycbertruck is the Lowest Tesla % at 69% and the Rest are 70%+ the only other Truck sold in USA that has more % is the Honda Ridgeline and that's a ICE Engine Truck. Somebody got it out for Tesla I telling you not to support a company which has almost all of it parts source in North America is ridiculous. We are all choking of the Final Price Tag of the CT and then to have your own government stuck it to you further is a double insult. I was counting on that credit to ease the pain a little, and help support the EV World change that I have been waiting for since the 70's BTW. So Kudos to ELon for push the industry forward, to bad of blind government does not see that.

If Tesla is using Chinese components in the 4680 battery, it's not eligible. Even if 100% of the truck is American. That's not a slam on Tesla. This was known almost 2 years ago and Tesla chose the route they chose for cost savings and availability (if that's actually the case).

We shouldn't be subsidizing $80k trucks. We should be subsidizing $40k new vehicles and $30k used vehicles more heavily. Is the goal a more sustainable America, or getting upper middle class people a fun toy at a discount? No one has it out for anyone, someone just thought for once.

Wise choice, 95%of the people on here with a Cybertruck can’t afford it, including me. If financing was required, it‘s not affordable.

I don't think Elon Musk fall in the 95% of the people I was referring to. He didn't finance at the same percentage rate people are getting for their vehicle purchases. People aren't making money from the CyberTruck Purchase, that would cover the finance rate. I'm sure they're are a few, but rich people don't finance their vehicles(Or buy new really, 40% deprecation within the first year)

It depends how urgent you think the challenge of global climate change is. Every ICE that is converted to an EV is a win.

Wow, have you priced Trucks Period Today, the CT is one of the cheapest for what comes standard on it. Quote a Ram, Ford, Chevy full size truck with Heated/Vented Seats, Air Suspension, $WD, Lockers, 35 in Tires, need I go on? This is not a Toy as you put it and the government is paying others that dont meet that criteria either so what now? Its a electric non polluting mode of transportation, why is Tesla being singled out. As far a cathode material 92% comes from China at this point. At least Tesla is trying to make their own.,

What 40k trucks? My maverick was 30k, cheapest I could get within 250 miles of where I live. Maverick is not a real truck, but is a great cheap vehicle for 5 people with extra storage. There are not many trucks for 40k anymore.

The tax credit is an incentive to electrify drivetrains from ICE.

If the the tax credit was targeted at general manufacturing then it would make sense to measure % of vehicle made in the US.

Tesla doesn't need an influx of federal subsidies to build factories, as can be clearly seen by all the Gigas around the world. (Though they do love taking state money)

Tesla has more than benefited over the past decade from federal subsidies already btw, when they were the lone competitor in the EV space. Don't get it twisted.

Dry battery electrode took longer than expected for the cathode. Imported cathodes was a fallback to enable Cybertruck production.
The 4680 Ys and Cybertruck did qualify last year before the additional restriction kicked in.

Taxpayers who have never had ventilated seats shouldn't be subsidizing ventilated seats. The fact you are saying these things are mandatory speaks to me, you need no subsidy.

I was planning to wait for the credit but now I need a car sooner than I thought so I’m getting close to ordering.

The battery requirements get stricter for 2025 plus the credit is likely gone altogether at some point in ‘25 with the red wave. If the CT qualified as is then the credit should already be active. Would they switch the battery supply chain just for a time limited credit? Maybe but I assume not. If the CT can be sold internationally (Canada is just getting started) then the credit becomes even more irrelevant.

I spoke with Tesla sales yesterday, they said they are waiting on the IRS to designate the CT as eligible for the $7,500 Fed tax credit. He said the same thing happened with the Model3, took a few weeks for the IRS to catch-up.

The sales rep gave you false information, the Cybertruck doesn't qualify for the $7,500 consumer tax credit, only the $7,500 Business Tax Credit. If Tesla were "waiting" for the IRS to designate it as eligible, they would have a long wait! Because it's not going to happen unless Tesla makes the cathodes in the US. And we have no reason to think that is imminent. I think there is a higher chance that the tax credits could go away before the Cybertruck could ever be eligible for them.
