Well, it’ll be interesting to see how long this lasts.
https://electrek.co/2025/02/13/oil-...-ev-tax-credit-add-1000-tax-on-electric-cars/

Like I said, and as I suspected. Not long!

Get ready to pay $1000 ($8500 if you were eligible for the credit) more for your Cybertruck! To further subsidize US oil, I suppose. And that’s before the inevitable (yet totally avoidable) inflation coming for steel and other materials.

Some people just refuse to believe that fat meat is greasy. ??‍♂

Attack the writer and the source all you want. I know some of you just hate Fred and, that’s fine, but the bills are the bills. No reason to believe that they won’t pass and be signed. Somebody let me know when we’re great “again.”

I already paid extra in IL for an electric vehicle on this road tax as well as in NC now.
The second bill, sponsored by Senators Deb Fischer, Pete Ricketts, and Cynthia Lummis, would add a one-time $1,000 fee to the purchase price of a new electric vehicle.

GOP senators justify this by pointing out the lack of contributions from electric vehicles to fund the repair and maintain of highways, which is thought to be financed through taxes on gas and diesel. They arrive at $1,000 by calculating roughly the average contribution of a gas-powered car through the gas tax over 10 years.

Tesla needed to run the vehicle through the portal at time of sale/ delivery, so you're likely not going to get it. (But there may be a 3 day window assuming the pack qualified)

Nope, it's like more downpayment, no impact on sales tax.

They do, click on the link:

The cells/ pack previously used imported Chinese cathodes which made the vehicle ineligible any 30D credit as of Jan 1, 2024.
Does this pertain only to the US or does the 51state get credit?
