Honest question from a Tesla owner for many years: Why do you carry a fob?

I always assume it's due to situations where you simply won't have your phone on you, but I'm genuinely curious. I've not carried keys in many years now.
When we got our 2020 MYLR’s, the phone key was super hit-or-miss. You’d never know when you walked up if it would unlock or if you’d have to fish your phone out.

It’s 100% with the fob.

In 2024 the phone key is much more reliable with our MY’s, but still not 100%.

What I also like about the fob is that it will also act as a key card. You can take the battery out, and it will work on the B-pillar/center console no problem.

You can also work dumb summon with the fob. Just hold down the frunk or hatch button and away you go.

For me, I couldn't carry my phone into the building. I had to leave it in the car. So, I would turn off the phone, leave it, and then... either use the card or the fob to lock and then unlock the car. The fob lets you use summon to pull out of a tight spot.

But now, I CAN have my phone in the building so it doesn't matter.

For the crowd that is arguing "Fobs don't work" / "Fobs do work", remember that Tesla had two versions of Fob at one point and it's possible the older style won't work with the CT. I don't remember the particulars but I DO remember looking up which one we had because the older style wouldn't do something with the MY that the new one would.

I wish they offered a Cybertruck-shaped fob as an option. I just think it's cool how my Model S key is a little Hot Wheels car. :)

This is what I assumed. I've had MANY of those types of jobs before.

I saw 2 Cybertrucks in one day in my area but none before and none since. Now that I join the group of "I've ordered and am waiting for a VIN" crowd, I have no idea how long it's going to take at this point. Though, I can guess Oct-Dec since that's what the order page said. But, I can't find that date now that I've ordered.

Anyway, Happy Friday guys!
