Has anyone else had issues with tinting the windshield? I had it done with XR prime black 70. It's been a few days now, and I'm still seeing blurs and little kind of lines that draw my eye and distract me. It's subtle, but definitely noticable. I took it to another respected shop here in Austin for a second opinion and they said the won't even do the windshield on Cybertrucks. He said there's something about that particular windshield that can make the tint look off.
He said sometimes when tinters shrink it, that can cause an issue, and that he wouldn't shrink it on the Cybertruck. He was gracious to even look at it and cautious not to poo poo someone else's work. He said if you're seeing it now, I'd pull it off because you're going to see it every time and it will annoy you. Well, he's right which sucks because I REALLY want the benefits of the tint, but I don't want blurs. I'm torn whether to keep it as is or pull it while it's somewhat easier to do (?).

I had all of my windows tinted within the first two weeks after taking delivery. They have different degrees of tint but on the front windshield I kept noticing that it seem like there were blurry lines in the tint. I asked the applicator about it. He didn’t see it as easily as I did. I was pretty disappointed that it had come out so poorly because I had him do several of my vehicles in the past. Then I read on the forum that the windshield glass has certain issues that make it problematic. So I’m glad I didn’t insist that it be removed with a new tint or I would’ve felt foolish. I’ve just learned to forget about it and I really am glad I still had it tinted due to the excessive heat that builds in the cockpit.

I have xpel prime XR 70 on my windshield and it came out perfect minus a small crease on the passenger side that isn’t in my normal field of view so it doesn’t bother me. My installer said it’s a 3 person job because the windshield is so large. As far as clarity I notice no difference at all before and after.

If there are faint lines or blurry areas I bet they are from creases put into in the film or areas where the film got stretched when they were pushing out the application solution. Are they horizontal or vertical? Do you notice more of them near the top or bottom of the windshield?

Mine are horizontal wavy for the most part but I only really would have called it blurry, especially on the white lines of the roadway. They are definitely more noticeable at the lower one-third of the windshield which gives credence to the “stretching theory”. There were only two installers by the way. Guess I needed a smaller third one to assist. ?

I went through this and ultimately decided I’d rather remove the tint and have a clear non-distracting view then have heat rejection.

Ask friends and family to sit in the car and see if they see what you see. Most won’t see it, some will, which is very interesting. Some of is see it and some of us don’t.

I originally had prime on, they took it off and went with black. I barely notice it anymore. It's worse towards the bottom. I believe it's mostly just the angle.

What did you end up doing? I’m in the same boat. Austin shop here as well that redid the same tint already. I’d much rather there be no tint vs dealing with the huge light blooming at night. The installer is insistent that I want windshield tint though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My tint shop said he will redo it when it warms up but I'm afraid I will have the same issue so I am considering pulling it off and will decide in May when it warms up

I left it on. It's way too hot in TX not to have it in my opinion. I barely notice it anymore.

Nice burnt orange! I left it on and am happy with my decision. I don't notice it anymore.

It was more near the bottom. I believe it had to with the angle(?) as it's more pronounced the further down you look. Looking up near the top, it was noticeable at all.

Yes, I had same issue. Used the top of line tint (XPEL Prime Ceramic XR plus). I had to rip my front tint off and just go with eyebrow as it gave me a headache. I think steep angle of windshield or the gray haze that comes in it is the issue. I didn’t have issue on side windows with same tint so makes me think that is the angle or that gray default tint that is the issue adding aftermarket. No increase in heat in the car pulling it, so I think the default tint is high end already.
My other buddies with CT had same issue so it’s not bad tint. Don’t think certain tints, if any, are compatible with the CT windshield. No issue during day, but at night it was terrible.

Yeah phone pictures don’t do it justice, it’s like 6 inches of blooming is what I’m seeing which is like my truck giving me a stigmatism.
