FSD is a wildcard. If they get it to unsupervised in the next 5ish years, the value of the $8000 FSD is MUCH higher… supposedly it is about as cheap as it is gonna be as it gets better and better.. but that’s very speculative
I think unsupervised will be additional cost once available.

100%.

It was a near wash when FSD was $12k. Now, it’s closer to $5k extra, though that was before the new $2,500 voucher!!

I understand that the “value” for some of the extras is hard to pin down. But, it’s nowhere near zero. And I was 100% getting FSD.

But wash or not, to get this amazing machine many months earlier than I would otherwise is easily worth the $5k to me. As they say “you can’t see what’s coming” and I’m so grateful to enjoy this truck now vs sometime in the not guaranteed future.
I would say we still have to consider the tax credit for a lot of ppl. That early tax grows if you qualified for it at 79k but I just hope Tesla eventually sells it at the advertised price lol

I got to drive it for the first time today thanks to @Chris9702L and part of me regrets not pulling the trigger in December. But another part of me is likez c'mon Elon. Drop fs already

That would be wild. I sure hope not. Especially considering most didn't pay for supervised fsd package. They paid for fsd package

This is true. If I qualified for the tax credit, I would probably wait. I don’t (which is a good problem to have I suppose), so the FS and non-FS difference is small enough to not pass up… but I TOTALLY understand most passing

I think he means in general. Once unsupervised, the Tesla fleet with customers included will probably have to pay more for FSD

Understood about the tax credit. $7,500 is no joke.

Perfectly said!!

I keep reading “FS is $20k more” or “FS tax of $20k” but it’s not even close to that.

If you don’t want FSD, cyberwheels, white interior, $2,500 voucher, all-weather mats, and all the other goodies, that‘s awesome, and FS is not for you. Wait for non-FS.

But the $5k “skip the wait” cost is easily worth it to me!! I’m just bummed that I waited two months before configuring. This truck is amazing. And once FSD drops, it will be even more so, haha!!
Do you mean that you got the ready to order email, and waited 2 more "months" before going there and configure/order?

I got my invite today, still on the fence wanting to move forward. Just making sure I won't lose the spot waiting for a week for that decision. Thoughts?

Yes, that’s exactly what happened.

Invite on 01/18
Configured 03/15
VIN 05/09
Delivery 05/30

That invite isn’t going anywhere. There have been others here who postponed configuration for weeks/months and were able to configure without issue.

Reserved 7/16/2021 RN11532 and received order invite today! Was planning on getting the tax credit next year, so I was torn on pulling the trigger. Ultimately, we decided we actually wanted the additional Foundation series perks and put my order in today. Tesla must be going through the reservations a lot quicker than I expected with a lot of people passing on the Foundation Tax and waiting till next year. It’s been a long wait, and my wife said just do it! Gotta love her!
Congrats!

Congrats! Right decision. Maybe not for everyone, but if you want the foundation options, the “tax” is like $5k. I got mine and my only regret is hesitating and not ordering sooner. You’ll love the truck.
Yeah, given what you're getting, FS isn't a $20k "tax"....you're getting product for the extra money.
