Consulting the brilliant CT minds here.
Need extra storage during road trips and have always wanted this system:

https://yakima.com/collections/exo?srsltid=AfmBOoqjsLSd8eek3Uw03w5IuzgTxPZ3W5bduCun7eilNrlQMwlTjW0C

Questions:

- anyone have these for their CTs?
- read into the vertical tongue weight. Will this system hold, hardware (roughly 160lbs) plus load weight of items?
- Once on, will charging cords be long enough to charge at superchargers?

Appreciate your inputs!
I dont think the supercharger will reach the truck with that on. Do not use any kind of extension.

i personally get nervous with the vertical weight bearing capacity and tongue limit. in theory its 1100 lbs of static weight max and there are videos (jerryrig everything) showing it can far exceed that In practice, but the dynamic loading can be really unpredictable in real life so i would not go anywhere near that for longevity sake… stress fractures can develop in aluminum structure before sudden catastrophic failure occurs with almost no warning unlike steel which deforms and loses structural integrity progressively.

So the charger cables do reach without extension cables at the superchargers I’ve been to and the swing mechanism should also make that possible at virtually any charger layout sc.
I have had about 250lbs of gear on there so far. It’s small, so you’d have to try pretty hard to get much more than that on. So…if you’re carrying cement bags, maybe load those in the bed and something else in the gear warrior.
That’s easily under 500lbs of static weight and fairly close to the hitch. I have no intention of using a second level because it obstructs the tailgate camera anyway.
Anecdotally I can tell you it doesn’t flex AT ALL or budge while driving thanks to a pretty clever hitch securement mechanism.
I’m not advocating anyone push the laws of physics, just sharing my experience which so far has been just awesome.

After seeing the pictures posted above, and what you’re describing, it makes sense that this would be practical and work quite well as long as the limitations are understood and adhere to. Good to know that it seems to work as far as backing it up to a supercharger. Yakima is the premium brand for this kind of stuff and what Tesla recommends.

most superchargers today allow for a cybertruck to charge with something like this installed. either the cable is now long enough or the chargers are arranged so that something like this (as long as its as wide as the truck) can fit between the chargers.

also reminder that fsd will work with the tailgate camera completely blocked as long as trailer mode is off. trailer blinkers will still also work.

I drove from philly to wisconsin using fsd the whole way and only had to detach my hitch tent once to charge.

Do you have one of those thule tents @EWELON ? I’ve been very curious about those. Does it cover the camera? How do you like it?
