I just drove over 200 miles with this on the dash, never lost connection, and it didn’t move AT ALL.

The metal bracket is simply a rack ear for a piece of equipment that I have on a shelf instead of in a cabinet. It’s not “hard in” but has just enough friction to keep the dish happily in place.

Quick update: made the full round trip - including some pretty intense off-road trails to the hunting camp and back. Never moved from where I put it.

Interesting
. I may try this.

I mounted mine to the last crossbar

I was originally going to try something like that, but after just tossing it on the dash and having relatively little issues with it simply sitting there, I looked on my workbench for a few parts that would be candidates for a 'mount' when I saw that ear sitting there and said to myself "hell, I bet that'll work fine". Probably a $5 part if you order it, or 'free' if (like me) you have a bunch sitting around because you decided not to rack mount your theater gear ?

What type of speeds are you getting with it on the dash?

I’m averaging about 200 down with peaks of about 250 or so

the perfectly angled flat windshield is sooo perfect for HUD. I wished Tesla or someone would make one. CyberTruck dash is like a dream for gadgets haha.

About 190-200 on the move, quicker if parked up. I think flatter mounts are better overall, but I also leave this in all the time and I’d be a bit less willing to leave the dish on the exterior

A full month of having the Starlink in this position and it has literally never moved. 100% recommend.

I wonder how difficult it would be to fish the cord underneath the dashboard panel to come up in that location? I looked up how to remove that panel, and it requires removing the passenger airbag, then the A-pillar trim first, which doesn't sound fun. To me, this seems like the perfect spot. More Perfect would be a Tesla-made custom Cybertruck receiver, perhaps built into the glass peak completely out of sight.

I ended up printing a mount from printables (another member here made it) and using suction cups to hold it to the inside top glass in the backseat (and it fits under the sun screen). Has been there since February without issue.
