It was a full house tonight at a new 1/8 mile drag strip. There were lots of souped up Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, Challengers, and Chargers as well as a group of guys in Lambos and a group of guys on bikes.

Absolutely everyone refused to get on the line with me. No doubt some of the cars could’ve given the Beast a run for its money, but we’ll never know for sure.

I spent the night doing solo runs with a Dragy DRG70C (and giving rides to a few people who weren’t totally closed-minded).

Here’s the best run (all others were very comparable - 2.5/2.6 0-60s and 6.9/7.1 eighth miles):

Tesla Cybertruck Drag strip track day 1/8 mile times -- need to vent… IMG_8515

I’m pretty happy with those numbers, but half the fun of a track day is actually racing and talking cars with the other racers. The Lambo guys did talk to me, but declined my challenge on the strip.

Why? Don’t know. It could have been that they watched too much Carwow and didn’t feel like they could hang with the Beast, or it could have been that they were shunning EVs out of the car world for as long as possible. Your guess is as good as mine, but the whole experience was pretty disappointing aside from the Beast’s performance.

It becomes meaningless to even try at some point, I think since June I havent even launched my AWD more than twice.. I cant even imagine CB, knowing pretty much anything on the road would lose to me..

I'm not surprised by this at all. They know they are going to lose and don't want to be embarrassed. I totally humiliated a Mustang GT owner and his girlfriend a few weeks back and he was BIG MAD. Wouldn't even look at me once we came to the next light. Take it as a sign of respect.

In today's social media world maybe they are more concerned with video of them losing showing up online. Some people have fragile egos....

If I were there I would have raced you to see how much of a weight penalty some of my add-ons were costing me in the 1/8th mile as I assume some of them like the side step bars would technically be slowing me down. Did you try runs with and without wheel covers? Just curious...

Wheel covers came off within the first week and have never and will never make it back on (I have core wheels so they’re not the cool covers anyway).

Plaid S's have had the "I'm not lining up with you" problem for years at the drags. Not surprised the Beast is the same.

It's just how drags racing is right now.

People with fast cars love to humiliate cars they disrespect at the drag strip. Because they 'know' their car is cooler and better, they are itching to prove it

In this case there is only one way to interpret it:

The Beast had the other guys shaking in their boots. Can you imagine the humiliation of a Lambo owner gettting smoked by pickup truck? And an electric one at that? With All-terrain tires?

Normally they can't refuse a challenge without losing face, in this case they felt they could feign disinterest because it was such a different vehicle that declining would be preferable to accepting the challenge and losing. As if it wasn't worthy. But that veneer is so thin you can see right through it.

I guess I’d rather believe that than believe they want to shun EVs, but still, who goes to the track to only race cars they can beat? I’ve been to tracks in the past with custom built cars with roll cages, nitrous, a crew pushing them to the line, race suits, helmets, so on and so forth. I know I’m losing to those, but it’s fun seeing how close of a race you can make it. I have the utmost respect for any gas car that can beat the Beast in the 1/4 - even more so in the 1/8, and no one even attempted it. Kinda sad and, to be honest, pathetic.

They don't have bracket racing?

EVs like the Cyberbeast and Tesla plaid models have made the competitive drag racing of ICE vehicles a pointless exercise.
Except for the sounds.... Nothing will ever to that, no matter how fast
