They don't have bracket racing?
This particular event was just an open track so people could go whenever they want. They’d pull up to other cars and challenge them in the pits or just end up next to them in line.

Impressive 0-6o times: 2.5 seconds. And by a PICKUP TRUCK!!!

Next time, maybe bring a trailer and race 'em with it attached.

EV's on the drag strip are like a boob job in a beauty pageant. The results are just too good, and others just can't compete without going there too. And they don't want to or can't, so they just don't want to mingle with you and will give you snickers and dirty looks. It's a reality of Cybertruck life. You don't buy it to fit in or be normal. Accept that you're the Pam Anderson of the vehicle world; they won't like you but they will respect your dominance.

Maybe you should have done the first run without a launch ; P
Give them something that would make them consider it, LoL.

I also wonder if that 2.5s speed is from having the road tires instead of the ATs.

Since you seem like the drag master, I have a question for you. I have a beast but have never used launch control yet. From a complete stop, I’ve slammed my foot down on beast mode (impressive) BUT I’m curious, how much quicker is launch mode? Is there more power at launch or is it just a quicker engagement (just faster then foot). Thx

Except for the sounds.... Nothing will ever to that, no matter how fast
At some point I'll post my Blog/Rant titled "Making Noise". Basically conceding that my EV will always lose in one and only 1 category, and I'm okay with that.

If you have beast, at a full stop in Beast mode, hold the brake with your left foot first, then push the accelerator to the floor. It will drop the front suspension and stiffen the rear. Not sure about a boost in acceleration but the cheetah stance most likely makes a difference. Even if it doesn't it's cool AF.

Thanks. I know how to put into launch mode (just haven't done yet) but just wondering if somehow it unlocks the full 845hp. Maybe the difference is just instant power vs the speed of your foot pushing down the pedal. Will try one of these days...

The difference is the suspension is ready to handle all 845hp from a dead stop. That’s the simplest way to put it

I haven’t compared times yet but that would be interesting to know. I’ll find some time where I can get some solid numbers on that.

I definitely feels different launching with and without launch mode. It doesn’t necessarily feel faster, just smoother and more controlled when your front suspension starts out lower.

Next time I’ll start out in sport mode or even chill. “See guys? You can take this thing!”

It was a full house tonight at a new 1/8 mile drag strip. There were lots of souped up Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, Challengers, and Chargers as well as a group of guys in Lambos and a group of guys on bikes.

Absolutely everyone refused to get on the line with me. No doubt some of the cars could’ve given the Beast a run for its money, but we’ll never know for sure.

I spent the night doing solo runs with a Dragy DRG70C (and giving rides to a few people who weren’t totally closed-minded).

Here’s the best run (all others were very comparable - 2.5/2.6 0-60s and 6.9/7.1 eighth miles):

I’m pretty happy with those numbers, but half the fun of a track day is actually racing and talking cars with the other racers. The Lambo guys did talk to me, but declined my challenge on the strip.

Why? Don’t know. It could have been that they watched too much Carwow and didn’t feel like they could hang with the Beast, or it could have been that they were shunning EVs out of the car world for as long as possible. Your guess is as good as mine, but the whole experience was pretty disappointing aside from the Beast’s performance.
I've got a drag race in Abilene on Friday. Very curious to see who wants to challenge the beast. Thanks for sharing your experience
