Some points why Cybertruck would be good for law enforcement use with minimal retrofit:
  • Reduced maintenance and fuel costs compared to ICE vehicles.
  • SS, armor glass, no door handles, biodefence mode, and 360 cameras provide increased safety and situation awareness.
  • All-wheel steer, all-wheel drive, electronic braking, dynamic suspension allows for offroad capability, poor weather navigation or tight turning areas.
  • Main touchscreen could allow custom law enforcement software for database access and real-time communication.
  • Vault, in-bed compartment, and frunk provide a lot of lockable storage for long guns/ammo, first aid supplies, or crowd control equipment.
  • 1 MW charging for higher uptime, charge at shift change or meal break.
  • FSD allows officers to focus on job tasks rather than navigating the roads. Summon could bring vehicles closer to officers after foot pursuit or it could be moved remotely for miscellaneous cases.
  • Auto presenting door to help load detained person into truck or deploy a K-9 (dog mode)

It’s not like you couldn’t add a multitude of hard buttons for various things on that massive dash.

But equally the appearance of functionality and actual functionality are very different things.

very true, I dont have agree about buttons as the hands that may touch the screen could be wearing gloves, covered in dust, sweat, or blood..

Probably not as the CT, but could probably task Tesla with some type of contribution to another vehicle.
unclear how much Tesla/Elon want to be active parts of the military industrial branch

lucrative, but maybe a bit out of step with the mission statement

I wonder what the military would think about a private company having a constant connection to their vehicles. Perhaps Tesla could open a military division (https://x.mil ?) that would be a trusted contractor.

As far as the cops go, they already use a bunch of Tesla so I can see that, and I do wonder how they handle adding the cop screen to those cars, it would be nice if they had a deal with Tesla to connect to their database on that screen, but both the police and Tesla don't want others to have access to their private stuff, so it may be hard. Perhaps the cops have a password protected website that allows them access that would work in the car, but that browser of Tesla's SUCKS!!!!!!!!

Summon access would be another customization that Tesla would have to make for the cops, unless they just have one phone logged into the individual car and it stays with the cop that is currently driving and is handed off at the end of the shift.

The rest of the comments were spot on, the CT would be a very secure vehicle for the police and having the pickup element instead of the trunk means lots could be carried in every car. And if you wanna block the road having a longer vehicle w/ 4W steering makes it easier to keep a suspect from slipping around you.

The only BIG downside I see is the chances that these things would get destroyed ALL THE DAM TIME, while a car with removable body panels could just bolt a new panel on and it's back on the road.

Elon won't let Starlink be used for combat purposes, pretty sure they won't do this.

Isn't that what it's been used for already out in Ukraine? Dunno how you would be able to distinguish and stop it without packet decryption, inspection and filtering.

Packets gotta say where they're going, to get there. Don't need decryption for that.
