Regardless of what Elon tweeted, I still think Tesla won't do a quad motor CyberTruck. It's superfluous. A three motor drive train propels the Model S 0-60 in under 2 seconds, and to a top speed of 200 mph. Three motors is also enough to haul 82,000 lbs with the Semi. Aside from the silly folks who think that four motors will make a noticable difference in four wheeling situations, there's no need for CyberTruck to have four motors. I think that everything I will ever need from a CyberTruck could be handled by two motors. I want enough torque to pull (and bring to a halt) circa 15,000ish lbs of RV, and enough range to get that RV load between widely dispersed Northern and Central American SuperCharger locations. A 500 mile Dual Motor can likely do that, so adding extra motors is only for bragging and posturing. I've outgrown those urges. I'd prefer saving that money for other pursuits.

Why are you always bringing this argument back up? Is it because you know deep down inside you are wrong, so if you keep calling it silly, you won't be called out on it?
Let it go.

ZombiePhysicist is new to the forum. I wanted to make sure she/he was up to date on the ancient arguments. 🤣

It does so with the Model S, yes, but the CT is way bulkier, heavier, way more unsprung weight to turn on the giant wheels. The original quote on 0-60 with the 3 motor, I believe, was around 3.5 second to 60 which is ludicrous speed. Plaid is under 2 seconds. So to get nearer plaid, they will need that 4 motor apparently.

I'm going to take Elon at his words on this one (and I'm well aware he often changes his mind, and his word regarding time is a multiple by 3x for a good starting point guess type of affair). But you may well end up being right.

It's always fun and interesting to see how it turns out (unless you're still waiting for FSD from 2016).

I thought the tri-motor was history when the quad talk began. The only reason I reserved the tri-motor for the advertised range estimate of 500+ miles and never really cared about 0-60 times. If they offer a dual motor with that range for less money, it will be fine for everything I would need it for.

The only issue I see is that 500 miles actually being 200 when you’re towing that much.
need
I just hope you can fit 4x8 sheets of plywood in the back.

I would be DELIGHTED!!! with 200 miles of range towing my Airstream. I'm setting 150 RV towing miles as my "make or break" range requirement before I bail on the CyberTruck and go with another option. 150 miles is a range I am SURE I could get from a 500 mile range vehicle, but the rumored 400 mile initial CyberTruck offering is putting me on the bubble. I just can't convince myself that that version could reliably get me the 150 miles I want. It would be close by my estimation.

Curious if your 150 miles threshold is based on full battery 100% down to 0%? Or more realistically 150 miles with 5 or 10% margin?

I'd settle for 150 miles from 100% to 2%. Absolutely needing 150 miles between SuperChargers is an outlier. Most S/C stations are less than that, but as a geology buff I can see myself pushing those boundaries enough to justify my limit.

2% is my standard arrival buffer when I travel (alone). If my wife is along for the ride, she politics for 15% and negotiate down to 8%. Those negotiations have cost me some extensive Honey-Do lists when we arrive back home.

There is no quad motor Cybertruck.
The top tier will be tri-motor, with two carbon-wrapped units in the rear, and a legacy motor up front making 1500hp total.
