Fewer benefits vs installing it on a painted car but you still benefit from keeping the car clean. Smudges on stainless are a pain.
What about a ceramic or other kind of coating on the SS? Seems as if something could be put on it to reduce finger prints and stuff.

Xpel dealer here. This is the way! Lock that gorgeous stainless finish in and top it with ceramics. This is what I’ve been telling our future CT clients that don’t want to wrap.
LOL. Not surprised to hear that from a XPEL dealer.:ROFLMAO:

Since the HFS already protects from door dings, rock chips, and so forth, I would imagine the buyers of PPF want to make it easier to clean. I'm sure we have all read stories from Tesla showrooms where they always have a bottle of the Tesla Cyber Spray to clean the trucks.

If you're an early owner, imagine parking your new Founders Edition Cybertruck at a Supercharger and heading inside a Target to buy a sandwich while you charge. How many people do you think are going to be snapping photos and checking out your truck? I'm sure there will be many people who could be leaving smudges all over your new shiny truck.

Sure, PPF isn't really needed to protect against brush or rock chips, but it could certainly make things easier to clean before driving away from that Supercharger.

Let's try not to criticize what others do to their vehicles. Let them enjoy what they bought. :)

Doesn't a clear PPF kind of seem a bit pointless? They made the Cybertruck with this material to be able to handle all the rough elements of being outdoors, and then you wrap it with a PPF to protect that? I'm probably just ignorant...but seems odd to me
I agree

ah, good points. I didn't thinka bout that. I can imagine finger prints all over it.

I'm just looking forward to going surfing or that dreaded mall with parking spots made for a fiat and not worrying about door dings
This is literally my favorite thing about the truck!

Wouldn’t it be easier to just wrap your fingers

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is there a *Legal* option to further protect the windshield?

The work and skill level to wrap a flat, curve free object is a fraction of regular cars.
$6k to wrap a Cybertruck feels just like the first Nissan EVs getting A/B six month service intervals.

This is a done in less than a day, $2k job at best.

I mean I know PPF protects, I have it on my Rivian, and it did protect the paint from rock chips already and a door ding. But it doesn't always self heal. The large rocks that hit, and the door ding scraped up the PPF. So I have to replace those sections eventually.

But with the non-painted surface, I would have thought that was the whole point - and why they didn't want to have it painted. So PPF on top of that non-painted metal surface just wasn't what I thought people would do.
LOL, it doesn't make much sense, but I never doubted people would pay a bunch of money to do it.
