Interesting. Here's another hand-on test. Link

Yeah two different experiences and I think that it's intended to be mostly waterproof. Even the leak shown in the video by Our Cyber Life, it's leaking from the upper corner after having water sprayed up there, but in light-moderate rain, that might not have any leak because the roof comes out a bit over the cover which could allow all the water to run down the cover.

Also the first photo with the water...I just don't know about it. It's like raining inside, the water doesn't seem likes it's coming from anywhere specific and pooling at the back, it looks like it's coming in from across the entire cover as we can see it forming water droplets on the cover.

I would want to see a video timelapse of the rain condition outside, side-by-side with inside the bed timelapse. I think this is either a manufacturing defect or the story is misleading.

Maybe a fine tuning can make it watertight, but I'm far more concerned with strength and longevity.

Rain test is good. But who will have the stones to test dust/dirt buildup on Tonneau cover and its operation? Where does the ‘silt’ (dust/dirt + water) collect and/or runs off? Maybe the seals will squeegee it away? I would love to see this.

Any mention in the Users Manual about tips/tricks to help ensure smooth operation?

I suspect the maintenance on this apparatus will be quite involved if such is needed..

Typical Tesla build quality.

The tonneau cover on my F-150 is totally watertight. Same rollup mechanism. Been through many severe rainstorms and never had a drop of water leak through.

Did he say it was in rain? Or were they doing pressure tests maybe?

Spray hose is not a fair test comparison to driving in the rain or sitting in the Rain. I have a clamp on cover and I have driven 1000’s. Yes 1000’s of miles in rain and never had anything get wet. Now dust buildup for the CT cover may be a different concern. I can’t wait to get mine
