Same as the Roadster if Elon can send one into space and back.

I think it will really have a lot to do with just how LIMITED the FS really is. It is definitely not looking like a LIMITED edition.

They can make 100,000 of them and out of 2 million orders that is extremely limited in a ratio point of view

It's like every other product out there. Houses, stocks, beanie baby dolls... A MX or MS owner that paid that price has had all this time to enjoy the car. They paid what they paid, and unless they try to sell it, the current pricing has NO impact on their lives. "But if they had just waited..." Ok, and what were they going to drive while they waited? Would it have been as enjoyable as their X/S? Would that car also have depreciated? Less, as much, more???
Computers are increasing in capabilities daily. So wait until tomorrow to get a more powerful one at a better price.

I had one of the first, it's less powerful than a $5 Raspberry Pi. Should I have waited 30 years?

We do a terrible job of teaching kids the "cost of opportunity". EVERY choice in life comes with a cost and a compromise. You can't have it all. I waited most of last year to compare the M3+ to the MS to the CT. That choice and decision to do nothing had a cost, and here I sit without any of them. Now I've ordered the M3+, and I need to make the decision to take delivery of it, or hope the new Performance version gets launched in March like the rumors indicate. There is an experience cost, and a financial cost to each choice. You can try to justify the additional cost of the FS based on what all it comes with, or you can look at the value of owning and driving one NOW vs 2025 or later, and the "stuff" is just a bonus. That's the cost of opportunity.
Extremely well said ?

Wouldn't it be funny if the CT turns out to be a completely DIFFERENT ANIMAL!
Picture the scene 50 years from now. ...a man walks into a Barn!
Under a layer or dust and pigeon poo sits a 2024 FS CB......on blocks!
The seller says it was his Grandad's Old Truck! Says it still runs.......the solar panels keep the battery pack trickle charged!
They haggle over the asking price...... twice the original sticker price!

For whatever reason, automobiles elicit strong emotion in most people. Even people who would say they are not “car people”. Other appliances just don’t touch the same chord. Ever see anyone take a picture standing in front of their new refrigerator?

Cars become a part of our life.

Maybe if one doesn’t understand others’ decision to buy a FS (to enjoy NOW), they don’t understand why anyone would have children either.

Neither one looks very smart on a spreadsheet ?.

Folks seemed to have shifted from talking about CT depreciation realized by a first-owner, now to daydreaming about a far future where vintage CTs are the equivalent of a 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350R

setting aside how strange a view that is, what I’m writing about is how ironic It is:

here’s Tesla, a company basically targeting the near term obsolescence of individual automobile ownership, and whether they are successful may mean one of two outcomes regarding the CT’s far-future value:

(1) “you hear about that barn find Cybertruck? How weird people used to buy and drive their own cars!”

or

(2) “you hear about that barn find Cybertruck? It sold for a lot of money, in part because the story is so great: i mean, the guy who built it actually thought we’d no longer be buying and driving individual cars!”

The most rapid depreciating asset is technology. I have thought that Tesla vehicles should be upgradeable, but I suspect Tesla wants you to buy new stuff. The original roadsters are somewhat collectible, but there are no parts so keeping them running will be difficult. EV’s are not like ICE vehicles where you find 60’s cars drivable and still collectible. The design creates the collectibility. EV’s will only be collectible if parts will be available: battery, hardware, software, etc.

It's a loss including time value. Money invested is supposed to double every 10 to 15 years.

And it was already twice sticker price two months ago. :p

I have just about every iPhone I’ve ever purchased (3, 5, 7, 10) still in the original box.. sitting…

batteries puffing on every single one. With old processors which will not support the latesiOS

In the early '80s l started seeking out 'barn finds' [ they weren't called that ] in Country Towns particularly around Victoria, but NSW and SA were occasionally of interest if l was passing thru on the way to a VW event. Some of the VWs were sitting in sheds for 20 years.....$500 bucks usually got the deal done. No-one was buying up at that early point ...so you make a valid point about 'time value'. Another factor was the understanding that one could bring a low mileage vehicle back to life, with elbow grease and the occasional NOS parts that could be found in older VW workshops/dealers. Today, you can pretty much get any MERCEDES part from the factory for cars going way back in time.
Who knows how easy it will be to revive a 'bricked' CT.....the Tesla Roadster comes to mind. ( Gruber Motors service Roadsters from around the World )
Cars generally have been a poor financial decision.....HERBIE movie cars are an example of an exception to the rule! Some sell for way over $100K
Supply and demand come into the equation......let's see what becomes of the CT, especially low VIN. One to look out for is the Franz Von Holzhausen FS 002
Or better still the Kimbal Musk FS 000/1.....l think he might have it!

Serious thought. Not trolling. (People think I'm always trolling for some reason lol)

A lot of people are using the included accessories to help justify the FS cost. (Which is totally reasonable).

But if that's the case, then how much are we thinking the etched emblems are really worth whenever it comes to resale vs a CT without the emblems?

Realistically, they're the exact same truck (if optioned the same).

Anyone own a founders version of other Teslas and want to weigh in?

Again, not saying anyone is making a bad decision or anything. Just curious
It's interesting to see the date of this post, now, a year later. I ordered the FS Beast because I thought they would make up 20-25% of all FS, making them eventually appreciate in value ....for my Grandson. I think it turns out about 25-30k total were made?? , 4-5k are Beasts?? Someone will have the figures....?? There are some internal differences also Dash material., FS engraving .... On top of.. FSD= 8k, 2.5k light bar, 4k-2.5k towards home charging..... So yea The FS Beast will eventually be more valuable than the purchase price.....50 years :) ??
