Again compare and contrast with the introduction of the C8 or (even C7 Corvette) both of which I purchased. You couldn’t get one for *years! Even after they were starting to become regularly available, virtually no one was able to get either one at MSRP for years after launch.

I’ve already explained how the C8 is directly analogous to the CT in terms of what it meant as a radical departure from the past for its manufacturer.

This is not a good sign, I don’t care who wants to spin it in any other direction - for whatever their motivations may be.

*I did well on getting my C8 because I had already purchased a C7 and was treated with respect because of loyalty. Since I bought four Teslas before my CT, I feel like this is something else that Tesla could stand to learn about and improve. I am personally responsible, through my advocacy, for the sale of no less than a dozen Teslas to friends and family outside of the five that I’ve personally purchased. It’d be nice to be shown some of that love back. ?
The overall problem is pricing just needs to come down. Inflation adjusted we are just way higher than potential purchasers expected.

If they approached foundation series just slightly different, I think it would be a completely different story right now.

Even at the exact same prices at 99 and 119, if they just threw in something that showed foundation actually had more value than the $20,000 markup, I think it would’ve flown off the shelves and people would be fighting for the very last ones.

Maybe that could have been free lifetime supercharging on top of the other foundation things.

Instead, everyone here did the math and said all right, it’s $20,000 extra. We’re assuming these options are going to cost this much, so it’s essentially a $5000 “get it first fee”.

If it was $5000 in the other direction, where yes you’re paying more but you’re getting more value and what felt like a truly special package, the demand would’ve been through the roof.

Overall seemed not super thoughtful.

I like many bought one anyway because I didn’t care about the $5000 up charge… and even if the $5000 didn’t matter to me, frankly it was still a little annoying.

If it was an immaterial $5000 in the other direction, I think the sentiment would be a lot different

I think this is a substantial problem and probably number one. I also think that the truck has become completely toxic as a symbol (for various reasons not helped by the Trump tower incident) and Elon is incredibly polarizing at this point (to include a recent report that a quarter of potential buyers will not consider a Tesla because of their aversion to its CEO).

Complete nonsense? FUD? Here it is for you to decide for yourself.

Qmerit can equally go to heck.
Whoa, Mr. Potty-mouth! ?

My delicate virgin ears are not well-suited for this kind of salty, sailor talk!

I completely agree. It’s become polarizing more and more overtime.

When it first came out, people certainly had their opinions on looks, but it was generally excitement because it was so different and interesting. Even if someone wasn’t in love with the way it looks, they weren’t genuinely mad or outraged just to see one.

You get that today and you didn’t before.

Straight up, you can’t get mad by seeing a piece of metal. It’s deeper than that.

It’s been completely radicalized and politicized.

Now they are discounted $8K new... no questions asked. Existing 24s have $12K+ discounts.

GM simply built TOO many (53K in 2023 and 50K+ in 2024) for the market to absorb. The C8 market is cratering hard. I want one eventually but don't need to overpay for one today. I argue CTs are suffering from the same issue... too much supply for the demand.

What Elon and Tesla expected was Model 3 and Y volume and what they got was Model S and X volume which makes perfect sense because that’s the same price point. The supply and demand issue won’t end until either price adjusts or they just come to the realization the Cybertruck is not a high volume vehicle.

Well, good thing I live in a more conservative area. The hate we get here is more likely from big truck small penis syndrome.

Anyone noticing the various "inventory / demo" CT's that have "lifetime" connectivity, but missing other parts of the Foundation Series? Are these the "de-badged" foundation series? If they are, how did they remove the FS logo in the interior?

Makes me question if the "debadging" story is real or if they also have a way to remove that badge either which I'm doubtful.

Yeah that story may be BS - however, that plastic trim piece can be replaced with a non-FS badged one. Mine was chipped at delivery and was replaced.

I am sure Tesla can flip a switch for free lifetime, I don’t think these are debadged. Just another lever they can pull to entice buyers particularly with such pathetic demo discounts.

FWIW Tesla changed the banner re FS supercharging to “order by January 31st” - things are getting interesting!

They are trying to pull a lever, I’m going to call their bluff on this one.
Definitely. I wouldn’t be surprised if prices adjust further on 2024 inventory between a) inauguration on the 20th b) earnings announced on the 29th or c feb 1.
