Lucky for you it’s included on the beast so the extra cost of buying one won’t be an issue!
That and the 4k install credit for power share is the reason I ordered the beast. Seems like a better deal. And the awd people have to pay for installation on the power share to get it. So that makes the awd $104k.

Yea I bought the bed divider and side things for mole mounts.
some people are saying it will be $600. I highly doubt it’s that cheap. My guess is $3,000
If a Cyber whistle was $$$ this light is going to way way higher than $600.

Go to 28:51 to hear Lars & Franz discuss the 48 volt off road light is laser lit and will shine over 5 football fields.

Reason I chose AWD was the range. Beast performance is nice tho

Gotcha. It’s a nice bonus you get to be the first guy in town with a CT if you get an AWD. Who knows when the ramp will include the Beasts.

Would have been nice if they kept the light bar under the windshield like the prototype (I'm sure it caused glare though), or included it with the AWD since the markup is the same as the beast. What's even weirder though is it's not available on their site, and they wouldn't let us add it to an AWD model if we wanted to pay (at this time).

Anyway, "laser" lighting in this context is called a LEP emitter (Laser Excited Phosphor). The prices do seem high compared to leds, but not $8000 for a light bar high. They are very good at projecting light very far. This is likely why they picked it. It's also probably the reason for the lack of supply. LEP modules aren't as easy to come by in large volumes as LEDs.

Yea true. It is strange they haven’t put it on the site as an option or priced it. Telling people about the wire being there seems it would cause them to buy aftermarket since no oem option yet. But it is 48 volt going to the wire. Not sure how many would handle that.

You all know that this laser light bar can only be operated in off-road mode which limits vehicle speed to 25 mph max?

I didn't, actually. I wondered if there was gonna be some limiter like that. I don't think I want it since it now protrudes from the roof peak (and likely impacts range), but the lack of an option to get it and specific information about it is what I was commenting on.

I'd guess it will operate in Baja Mode (at least logically it should) and that's more than 25mph or it's the lamest Baja mode there is....so I'd assume it works in any off-road mode, speed unlimited - aka where it's legal to use it and useful to use it! My 2c, could be wrong, just speculation.

That would make sense with all the state specific regulations on lights.

I still don't think it gets around the requirement for a cover, which varies from state to state. I think here in ohio, any lights mounted above the headlights have to be covered when on road, and no aftermarket lights are allowed to be activated on the road. I should know this because I have aux lights on my jeep ?, but it's been a minute since I read the rules.

An electronically activated cover would be cool ?

Deployable/retractable light bar would be cooler :censored: I've been thinking about trying to make something like that for my jeep but never really found enough reason to do so. Cybertruck may give me a reason, but obviously I can't change the way the windshield mounts. Only tesla could have done that.

that 48v power is only available when you turn it on from the screen. So even if you can find a 48V light bar and get it installed, Tesla still dictates when you can use it thru software to comply with the laws.
