I have to admit Tesla's marketing is brilliant.

"Let's not paint the trucks at all - then charge exorbitant amounts for colored or clear wraps"

Next up:

"Let's not include padded seats at all - then charge exorbitant amounts for padded and colored seats."

And then:

*Wheels not included
If you look at pricing for wraps of cars, in California at least, the prices they are charging are below the average cost.

the price is key and the warranty. In the Bay Area, I have no idea why folks would pay 8k+ for a product Tesla is offering for 6k.

Candidly, the 5 year warranty from Tesla is more valuable than any small business owner could offer considering I do not know if they will be in business 10 years from now, or honor it. Just need to also warranty installation.

Generally speaking, wrapping cars is a licence to print money! Some may go as far as calling it a 'wracket'
I consider the DIY route a reasonable option for flat sided vehicles like the DeLorean and CYBERTRUCK. You'd save a bucket! ?
I prefer my DeLorean 'rare' ( Cold Steel )..... l can dream, right!

Love to see Tesla offering this considering I have seen quotes from $7,250 - 10,000 for PPF and tinting in the Bay Area.

Tesla needs to update their warranty. Will not cover you if they fuck up the install (1 year warranty).

Considering a DIY should last a year this is kind of sad.

The warranty is typically through the film manufacturer. So for XPEL you go through them for a warranty on film defects. So you don't have to worry about the shop going out of business.

Like I said to the other person a DIY should last a year. If you go to a reputable shop you have up to a lifetime warranty on the installation.

Except you also get a 12month warranty on workmanship that is probably much longer than most other wrappers offer…

Tesla has launched three new Cybertruck wrap colors.

Link: https://shop.tesla.com/product/cybertruck-color-paint-film

Satin Abyss Blue - $6,500
Satin Rose Gold - $6,000
Slip Grey - $6,000

Satin White and Matte Black are also still available.

Do we know if this is true PPF or is it closer to vinyl wrap? Have matte XPEL & STEK on my other vehicles, but since CT not painted, seems like overkill for PPF, but sounds like vinyl is not long term option either

My shop offers a lifetime warranty on installation.

The thing is if people want to save money they can just do it themselves but it's only going to stay on there for about a year. Installing PPF is an artisanal craft.

If someone really wants to save money go with vinyl. I was with a Cybertruck this weekend that had a great looking vinyl wrap. But they were afraid to go fast on the rocks because it would chip the vinyl and you don't want stainless steel pockets shining through everywhere.

Why buy a film that has a ten year warranty and then DIY or go to a shop that only warranties the installation for a year? You may save $1-2k but you're going to be upset with the results in a year or two.

Remember, we've seen what it looks like when a show room Tesla gets wrapped and doesn't even have to last against the elements or road vibrations. It's not great:

Anyone know what the official rose gold wrap is called if we want to order it? I no longer see the option on the tesla store, but hoping I can get the same one elsewhere and have a local installer put it on

it looks amazing
