anyone other than me curious if the Steel Truck bed they showed in the videos was cooler or more durable than the Foundation Series Black version? Anyone know if the black is better than the steel?

Couple vids show small scratches in the black which is a bummer.
The STAINLESS bed with tracks would have given a lot more options :( but it would also have been kind of slippery and more expensive for Tesla to make, that was one of many things that got cut early on.

From what I've seen and heard, the Cybertruck bed liner is much better than normal pickups. It isn't as easy to scratch and is much tougher.
If there is a scratch, then it probably would have been a gouge in another pickup.

Yes, the steel bed in my F-150 is just mild steel with automotive paint on it. It's slippery as snot when wet and scratches if you look at it wrong. It's beat to hell after 55K miles, I'll take the Cybertruck bed over that every time! Not having to buy a bed liner is a big savings over a legacy truck.

I'll have a tarp in the "basement" storage compartment of the truck bed that is sized to fit the truck bed and can be pulled out when I need to haul sand, gravel, soil or other bulk materials. In my experince, this is better than an installed bed liner because I can empty the last bit out by simply sliding the tarp out of the bed.

As a multiple truck owner, I caution anyone who doesn’t have a bed liner will be extremely dissatisfied and will underscore what @HaulingAss said. In fact I have gotten to the point where all my trucks have a spray in bed liner. What’s nice about those is they are super tough and if you scratch them, they are easily and cheaply repaired. If the CT didn’t have one, my first place I would take it is to Linex and get it sprayed in for $600. Trust me… don’t get a CT that is steel only. You will regret it over time.

UPDATE: Second to last sentence says "CT that is steel only." That sentence should read "CT Bed that is steel only". But since the Cybertruck doesn't have a steel bed and that the liner is tougher than a spray-on, then there's no need to do anything with the Cybertruck

Bed liner is far superior when loading shit( unless you’re just a grocery run?) SS bed liner would be scratched and scuffed first use for me. You could just toss stuff in and not worry. People just want it to be pretty. Don’t get me wrong I like looking at the CT too.

Huh? The Cybertruck doesn't have a steel bed, it's tough plastic and doesn't need a bed liner. If you are worried about scratches, I don't know what to say.

LOL... here we go again... the tire expert I forgot about you... ? I was supporting what you said... Can't please everyone

My reply was to the OP talking about a steel only bed (I assumed no bed liner). Spray In FTW.

Apologies if I misuderstood. I guess I don't know what, "don’t get a CT that is steel only. You will regret it over time" means. Does "CT" stand for "Cybertruck"?

Cool. Yes...perhaps I wasn't fully clear in what I was saying. I meant a Cybertruck bed that is bare steel (or bare SS)... ie. nothing protecting it. It would get very un-pretty quickly.

I'm with @HaulingAss on this one.

The Cybertruck's be liner isn't steel and it's supposedly a LOT better than spray in liners.

Did you read the OP's question? Here... let me quote it for you... emphasis mine:

He was saying IF IT WAS STEEL. I agreed with @HaulingAss with his post on the F150. Is a SS ONLY bed more durable than the plastic? i.e. You think it won't get scratched to high holy hell and probably get rust over time because liquids will pool in the scratches, etc?

I was responding in kind to the OP's question.

But that's not what we are talking about. We are talking about your statement

don’t get a CT that is steel only.
If you knew that the Cybertruck wasn't steel, then why phrase it that way?

But my bigger point was about

If the CT didn’t have one, my first place I would take it is to Linex and get it sprayed in for $600.

It doesn't need it.

I just try to quash misinformation. Your posts were indirect misinformation because they suggested that the Cybertruck may have a steel bed.

No. The OP asked about a steel bed only...the one the Tesla marketing put out in the past. I replied that a steel bed only would be bad news as it would get trashed. Thats not mis-information. That is fact. He was implying that it would be cool. I basically said... no it wouldn't be cool.

Yeah I miss-phrased it... I meant a CT BED that was steel only. I made that clear in my previous post to @HaulingAss.

Did I miss something here? Should I update my post to make it more clear? I am happy to do that.

UPDATE: I added an update statement to that post to clarify what I was saying. Hopefully that helps.
