untill i see more then a couple VINs delivered in a state i assume they are for VIPs. @AperiodicCoder yours is the only delivery we have recorded in NC and that was on 2/18/24 so 3 weeks now and nothing else from NC so unless you know other deliveries that were happening when you were at the SC i would say its still not general customer delivery yet.

every other state the deliveryies ramped up right after the VIPs and initial 1 or 2 deliveries (just look at Oregon, Montanna and Utah and washington now) but NC didnt for some reason.

I actually spoke to one of the managers at the Charlotte SC and she said that they’ve only delivered the 2, and were not showing any additional CTs incoming as of yesterday… your theory may be right.

Added new color to the map, Initial Customer Deliveries for the cases where we see 1 or 2 deliveries but not sure if they are regular deliveries yet.

Are VINs assigned to customers after the CTs are delivered to the SCs, or before they are shipped to the SCs? Thanks

My understanding, and I may be wrong, is that they are assigned after they are completed and pass inspection at GFT. I’ve been told that notification for delivery happens when the truck reaches the service centers. There have been folks that have received their VIN and within a week have a delivery date.

I believe the key is when they are shipped and where they are going. The sooner they leave the factory after being completed and get to their destination, the sooner the new owner will be notified.

It seems anecdotally that the larger service centers that have space for 10-15 CT’s get more trucks delivered. My local service center doesn’t have space for more than a couple of CT’s so delivery has been amazingly slow.

I’m sure there are many other factors that are in play that probably make as much of a difference.

It does depend on different factors though. If a truck is ready and a customer can't make it work in 3 days, it gets passed to the next person. Also if a person comes, looks at the truck, and passes, they give it to the next person.

That second one is something I'm worried about. I don't want to be assigned a vin, screwing with the vin I would normally have been assigned, after someone has passed on it after inspection. Because then if I have to pass on it, I won't just slot right back into the delivery order where I was in the first place.

I ordered AWD on Dec 16. No VIN or communication yet. No known deliveries in Idaho where I live. They seem to be delivering on some plan by state. Seems like order date doesn't matter until they activate deliveries in your state.

yep, then once they do start deliveries in your state, others states progress dosnt mean anything in your state.

if only there was a way to know the plan on which states get activated and when

Nothing yet, and mine is also an AWD. It looks like another OR VIN assigned four days prior to mine is prepping for delivery, so I am hopeful it’s soon. ?‍

Powerwall companies being contacted by Tesla to reach out to order holders and the time it takes to get a VIN after that… i just got reached out to by one of these installers…
