Just did a setup + takedown (minus the awning) for the third time and slightly under 10 minutes each. The design is growing on me more since without a frustrating “fit the folded up tent back in the container” experience.

Takedown is much easier once the fabric basecamp container bag loosens up a little. Removing + reinstalling the “aero flap” becomes pretty easy to do also - but it still feels kinda cheap/wacky that you need to remove + store a piece of the car’s aluminum trim…

Also, I checked in with the service center tech who learned that “Tent Mode” is still in beta testing but will be pushed via firmware update (TBD when and TBD if it’s to all CT owners or just those who purchased the Basecamp).

That's a nice find!
Yup - that mod will ease one of the less pleasant aspects of setup/takedown for sure.

There are still a couple design/build issues I have w/ the setup, but they’re pretty mino.

I haven't been paying a ton of attention to this thread as I don' t think this product will be for me. I'm looking for a shaded place to sit in the daytime at an RV site. It's not possible to remove the sleeping deck, is it?

Hah - shocker. The awning will make it look better. Reality is that overall the Basecamp is a pretty well designed and constructed piece of high quality gear (with a couple minor caveats). The price tag is high but comparable vs other generic rooftop tents. FWIW, I think Heim Planet put out a great product.

im sure it is for what it is, but in no universe would i ever buy that vs a ground tent and dont see the value.

Any idea what "tent mode" will do since there is no HVAC to the vault?

Thanks so much for this review. I am still several months out before my CyberBeast arrives but camping will be the key use case for me so I'm looking at all options now.

I've put a deposit down for a SpaceCamper ( https://spacecampers.com/ ) which seems to tick all of my boxes.

I am also looking at this 3 in 1 electric Bluetti cooler. Looking to replace the front seat storage with this unit.

There are also some interesting flexible solar panels coming to market which will be incorporated in future camping mods.

I expect Tesla/Starlink to offer a mobile data package for Cybertruck later this year.

It is going to be super fun exploring all of the options for camping in the CyberBeast, and of course actually camping in some out of the way places with Cybertruck.

Both the wedge and the cap look great, wonder how long it will be before they start making them and what the pricing will look like.

Word - let’s call it what it is: a completely unnecessary toy for people with $$$ they don’t mind burning on a cool toy.

Wow that SpaceCamper looks awesome but I would need to have some legit road trip plans to justify $24k+ lol! It does make me feel better about a $3K tent too
