Here is a question for FSD beta users, a question I keep coming back to: Does FSD after extensive use, ie when you use it all the time, lull you into paying less attention than if you were not using?

It may seem crazy but I think one pays less attention when not using even auto pilot. It's like one's brain has an auto pilot of its own all the time. After years of driving you get into trusting your brain's "priority interrupt system" that would take your mind off of work or the radio or whatever if there was eminent danger ahead.

IMHO driving on Auto-pilot is definitely safer than driving without it. FSD will be also and soon I think, but can we trust our brain's priority interrupt system to work when it needs to.
Somehow for me it hasn't, but you can't fight human nature in general. For most people it will make them feel confident to the point they don't pay attention.

But for me, I fully agree with your assessment. If im not using any brain or motor function to maintain speed or keep centered in my lane, a can give my full attention to paying attention to the road, cars ahead and behind, etc. And I feel more aware of my surroundings when using autopilot

I just installed FSD Beta V12.3 on my Model Y, so it seems that V12 is rolling out to a larger population. I agree with the comments that CT requires its own training to build a version of V12. Having Tesla insurance for my CT, I drive as safely as I can to avoid butchering my Safety Score. I'm a good vehicle for gathering driving data.
Is your safety score through Tesla or another insurance company?
Did you get your insurance through Tesla?

With my Model S and FSD I'll say I probably pay less attention then if manually driving. You also get to know where it usually screws up with each new version so a lot of time you do anticipate it. I'm pretty certain I am a much safer driver with FSD then manually. I don't have V12 yet but I do have the occasional no intervention drive with V11. I just hope at least autopilot on the CT is close or I may tire of driving that monster manually o_O

Just got V12 on my Model 3, it is a huge upgrade. Feels very natural and smooth.
Yes, it is a huge improvement. I drove 25 miles this morning around town on V12.3. All of my V11 problems are fixed, and I detected no significant regressions. The only interventions were out of courtesy to other drivers, nothing safety related. Two disengagements were due to a closed road and the presence of an emergency vehicle. Integration with the route planner needs improvement. In three instances the car drove off the planned route for no apparent reason (but recovered). Speed control and lane selection was quite good. Turn signal timing was perfect. The car drove itself very much like a responsible human.
