The first truck was delivered dirty with a good sized scratch that was found after paying while getting ready to leave, after some hand ringing I decided to refuse it. Six or so weeks later they had a second vehicle and I asked them to please check it carefully. After the second time talking to them about it, they then sent a picture of scratches on the front bumper. This wasn't as concerning as that can be easily replaced and they did say they would replace it.

After coming out to see the vehicle, it was, to their credit, much cleaner than the first one. There were more scratches and scuffs. Most every piece of plastic trim has scuffs or scratches on it.

Unfortunately, after having the vehicle for a couple of weeks I also noticed brown spots all over that looked to be some kind of pitting. The vehicle currently has 172 miles on it and around 60 of those are from picking it up. It’s never been wet since delivery and lives in the garage.

The pitting is mostly on the front hood. They look like little brown spots. So far I've only used water and a new microfiber cloth to take off bugs. But I then noticed these brown spots that could not be removed. On closer inspection, they actually look like erosions into the metal. I don't think they're the rust issue that some folks were having. It also doesn't seem to be rock chips. I've never heard anything hit the truck and I'm not sure what a rock chip would look like, but these don't seem to be that.

See all issue details below.

There is a creaking almost frog like sound while driving at around 30-35 MPH or so.

Creaking somewhere in the dash, not always there.

Ventilation fan is a little noisy on low (setting 2), little rattle or clunking sounds.

I also do not hear any lock sound. Now make a locking sound after the last Firmware update.

The manual says there should be a setting but I don't see it.
When the vehicle locks, the exterior lights flash once. To also sound a confirmation chime when Cybertruck locks, touch Controls > Locks > Lock Confirmation Sound.

Right side. Trim is a little high. The back ends of both sides are also high but it looks intended?
I was able to push this down and there was a click like it clipped into place.

This is the front bumper pic they sent me before pickup but most all black plastic trim has a mark or two.

Some trim seems loose. Front right seems solid but the same spot on the front left is maybe not clipped in.

There are a number of light scuffs around the truck. Not a deep scratch like the first truck but I'm guessing not easy to remove. They just pop out from time to time when walking up to the truck. The worst one is on the rear left.

Wrinkle like distortion in the left side of the windshield. It’s hard to photograph and it’s not a huge deal but distracts me sometimes. Looks like it’s between two layers of the glass.

Nor sure if it is the lighting but some of those look pretty bad, have you mentioned these to Tesla or just going to eat it because you want the truck?

Some good info but I'd like to see something from Tesla on what to use and how, for best results. Not sure they are removing the contaminants that are eating away the metal and then dirt will fill the little pits even if they don't continue to eat the metal.

It’s not eating the metal. That’s surface contaminates rusting. It will not pit the stainless steel. Use liquid barkeepers friend and it will be smooth.

You probably aren't going to find anything from tesla, so you can either take what the group here is offering or leave the marks as is.

You say they are pits, but we can't really tell from the images. Only if you cleaned them with barkeeper's friend (the spray bottle version, as it has no cutting agent in it) and the marks were still there would it be apparent to us what you are seeing.

Having said that, I can't believe the number of issues with your truck. what on earth are they doing between when it leaves the factory and is delivered at your showroom in particular, that is causing every single plastic panel to have scuffs and scratches?

I can try to get better pics but this looks like it's into or below the service.

I guess I'll get a magnifying glass and take a look but it sure looks like little pits into the service.
Do we want the liquid barkeepers friend with or without a cutting agent? The bottle I have for the kitchen is the liquid one with Oxalic Acid.

use without cutting agent. The stuff in the spray bottle. I think it's called "Barkeeper's Friend MORE". Then neutralize with water or windex, both seem to work but some swear that the tiny amount of ammonia in windex will ruin the stainless as if it's 350C at the time of application.

If that really is pitting, if you show it to someone at tesla, this is the first step they'd take anyway. So may as well find out for yourself. If they really are pits, there's nothing you can do to fill them in. All you could do is get a service center to do the refinishing technique and hope that it smooths them out or fully removes them.

Straight from Tesla…

1. While wearing gloves, apply a mild, citric acid cleaner with a sponge or microfiber cloth to evenly saturate the entire area of the stainless-steel panel. Tesla recommends CitriSurf® 77 or equivalent. The citric acid binds to and dissolves the iron oxide in the contamination, which can then be removed from the stainless-steel panel.
CAUTION
Follow the citric acid cleaner manufacturer’s instructions for proper use.

CAUTION
Citric Acid-based cleaners break down iron and other chemical components which may cause slight localized color deviation The process outlined here can be performed on entire panels or the entire vehicle to ensure consistent coloring of the exterior surfaces.
  1. Apply enough cleaner to cover the surface completely while minimizing dripping or pooling.
  2. Let rest for approximately 3 minutes, then remove the cleaner using a blue Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Scour Pad to lightly scrub and remove the surface contamination.
    CAUTION
Do NOT use anything other than the blue Scotch-Brite® Non-Scratch Scour Pad to remove the cleaner. Doing so may scratch the vehicle’s surface.
  3. Remove any residual cleaning solution with water and dry the panel with a microfiber cloth.
  4. The cleaning solution may leave a white residue on plastic trim. This can easily be removed with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipes. Continue caring for and cleaning your vehicle as normal.

Ok, the guy in the video said to use or that he did use the one with a cutting agent. Try the one without first and then the one with?

I now have started to schedule an appointment. I thought the did at pick up when they took pics of the other issues.
