Excellent write up.

And yes, I need to give myself 15 minutes of allowance to do my errands and stuff for the show and tell.

And learned to pee at home before leaving so I don't have hold my bladder while more people still have questions.

Thanks!

My tesla delivery rep warned me that the 15m stop at the grocery would now take 30m…he wasn’t wrong;)
Depends on where you live…. In my area no one bats an eyelash. And certainly no one will bother to interrupt you running your errands…

This is only an assumption. My guess is it's software limited on purpose for reasons undisclosed. OR 4680 + 800v architecture isn't providing a good charging curve. 23 kWh shouldn't make that big of a difference IMO rather the things I stated. Lets hope it's software restricted for reasons that are solvable over time... if not, it's a real bummer they should be top of the pack when it comes to charging + battery technology.
4680 curve is a sore spot... And generally speaking EV battery tech has been mostly focused on sideways steps in alternative manufacturing, but with some sacrifices in all around performance areas. The first red flag about 4680s should have been the fact that Tesla wasn't openly bragging about them being an improvement to the actual car performance metrics.

The key reason for scaling the tech is because it helps them remove production bottlenecks and costs. While other vehicle makers struggle to produce higher EV quantities. Tesla is removing those stops entirely but with charge speed as the sacrifice, as charging overnight at home is basically considered the big reason EVs are great.

The long range argument against EVs is basically going to stick around until an actual better battery tech can scale. It's not like they haven't been trying to improve battery tech in electronics for many years... This problem has been studied far beyond EVs, and is a big reason that people should be skeptical whenever claims of new battery miracles happen.

It's notable that without 4680s Tesla would probably limit CT scale around the same area of S and X models,.and given the CT is vastly more popular would feel much worse. So at least people will hopefully get their trucks sooner than later.

Great to hear! I'm in San Diego as well, should get a SD CT group meet sometime!
You can always attend the "Coffee & Cars" Saturday mornings in downtown Rancho Santa Fe. Show off with the lambo's, Ferrari's, McClarren's and others.

I did RSF Secret Car Club March 23. Still think we should do a cars and coffee CT meet.
