Just got a VIN!

I am either getting Upland or Riverside, but I think Upland is closer. I was able to provide insurance but not able to schedule delivery yet. From the very minimal research I’ve done, it looks like most San Diego deliveries happen about 7 days after VIN, and Upland/Riverside deliveries happen 9-12 days after VIN. I'm just so excited. I’ve seen 1 on the freeway, and 1 on the road & I’m hoping mine is the 3rd ?

February 20th and got a vin?!?! I honestly think they have a huge dartboard at giga Texas and are randomly throwing darts at it!

I don’t know if there is any rhyme or reason, but I did make my original reservation the day it was announced in November of 2019. the 22 I believe. I have a pretty "low" RN. But who knows. I do think CA deliveries are happening faster than other states for some reason.

I have seen 2 in the wild & my first thought both times was, "where the heck is mine & how did they get theirs so fast?" My second thought was, that's another truck delivered which means I’m one more delivery closer to my own. I get it. I do like that meme though!

6XXX - what does that mean? I haven’t done much research other than skim this forum a bit.

Recent production has been around # 6700, so yours has been produced relatively recently it seems.

Some folks here and there have been getting assigned "older" vins like 4xxx, so likely units that have been sitting in a lot for a bit.

I'm right there with you, checking multiple times a day. I was really, really hoping for something on my birthday last Friday, and when that came and went, I eased up on the checks. After getting the VIN this morning, I’ve already been back to the app 3 times looking for the option to schedule delivery ?

CA is historically Teslas birthplace. Most of the earliest RNs are people who were already Tesla fans prior to 2019 and were watching the night of. So the first 24 hours were highly biased to CA.

Then you have the fact that other states are just far less population. So Tesla likely doesn't ship there unless they can batch a shipment, while CA is easy logistics to figure out.

What you might be indicating is that early RNs actually matter more than actual order dates. But because you are in CA it's very hard to verify that.

With Tesla missing the estimated delivery time with many orders already, I'd think there was enough complaints that they'd start to prioritize based on when people ordered anyway.

Still.. if you ordered only 50 days ago... A lot of other people might start to brace for VIN impact. That's much better than the people who have been waiting 100+ days now for a VIN.

Congrats, OP!!

I configured on 03/15 (with a 01/18 invite). I keep hoping that my invite date will magically get me a VIN sooner than my confirgure date would suggest, haha!!

(I know, I know...hope in one hand, sh*t in the other and see which one fills up first, haha!!)

It's still crazy to me that my invite was from RN#1128473xx but I have an earlier reservation at RN#1127486xx that still shows "We'll let you know".
