Well was super pumped this morning as my 1/9/24 order finally assigned a VIN for the dual motor. However….

I’m located on (not in) the east end of Long Island, New York. In the same location since I preordered in 2019. As anyone else who lives out here knows, if you try and schedule service. Geolocation picks Connecticut as the nearest location. When it’s actually Smithtown, New York. But the app schedules based “as the crow flies” on distance which is a big error.

I called Tesla when I saw my VIN posted this morning as I’m going to be on vacation for a few days next week and didn’t want to miss the delivery. The representative said I’ll make note as you’ll be away those days and inform the location at Mohegan Sun ?

So I can’t pickup the car in CT because I wouldn’t be able to register the car in NY. The car already left Texas for delivery, and they have no idea how to reroute the car or if they even can at this point. Modifying the order will make me lose the allocation. Tesla literally has no idea what to do. It’s kinda funny at this point. My address clearly says NY so no idea how they screwed this up

Mohegan Sun is on tribal land, so they likely will have you complete the NY registration and things via mail. So, picking up in CT should not be a problem. Definitely don't take my word for it though, you should clarify this with your SA.

Sounds very unfortunate but such things have been known to happen with the newer/smaller OEMs. Don't you have a sales associate that is supposed to help smooth these things out?

That is so strange. I am in CT and when I configured on 1/17, it defaulted to MT Kisco NY.
I was actually disappointed at first that it wasn’t Mohegan. Since then I realized I would much rather pick up at a SC with Tesla mechanics than a show room with no service folks or equipment. I don’t see how Mohegan can handle any tweaks or issues that my be present on the new vehicle.

Sorry to hear that, Tesla needs to fix the way they select the nearest Delivery Center.

In the interim, people should be aware that the selected delivery center shows in your app, from the time of the initial reservation, and can be changed if, for any reason, you prefer a different delivery location.

Early on, when I wanted to change my delivery center from New York to Mohegan in Connecticut, I stopped in at Mohegan and they told me they couldn’t do anything until Levin was assigned and once it was to contact them immediately and they would change the delivery address. They swear that’s the way it works although it seems from paying attention that that’s probably not right given by the time we get Ins the truck is already usually on the move.

Hauling, are you sure it isn't once you submit your order? I have the invite to configure but am holding off till after the FS run concludes. I checked on both phones, and I do not see that anywhere on the app. Where does the delivery center appear? Thanks.

Never showed anywhere on my app to select the pickup location. Yeah I’m wondering how I’d pickup the truck at a casino ?

I'm watching this thread with great interest... my Tesla location is Mohegan Sun, and my RN and 1/10 order date seem to line up with imminent delivery. I'll take that one. Thanks!

Mine is going into a black hole then. Never had an option to pick a delivery location and it is blank.

Out of state car purchases are common. Why would picking up in CT prevent you from being able to register in NY?
