Received my invite and trying to figure out charging on day one (this would be my first Tesla so I don’t have a wall connector or anything set up).

Looking at the AWD, it says “Universal Wall Connector” is included. I called Tesla who said it would be shipped to me beforehand.

I am assuming it’s this exact item:
https://shop.tesla.com/product/universal-wall-connector

But reading online it also seems like that is part of the PowerShare bundle that you cannot get without a Tesla installer.

another review online showed a different product as well which seemed like was more of an adapter to charge other vehicles (mobile adapter)?

can anyone who received a truck confirm what they reviewed with it / beforehand? Want to know how I am going to charge this thing day one

well, better get that wall charger ordered and installed first or you'll be using the cable provided with truck that takes about 4 days to charge the truck with. I installed a 14 50 plug in my garage myself just to get by. The powershare equipment differs with what you have at your house to what you will receive. If you have powerwall already then you won't be getting the V3 gateway promised....and you won't be getting any money for it.....you get a credit of 700 dollars to buy your own wall charger......installers are very few that know how to connect to house to make it "powershare". Im still waiting on a certified contractor provided by Tesla to have the knowledge and professional know how to install my wall charger.....the ones i talked to want to do it without permit......and only 2 of the 7 I've talked to know what PowerShare is..........they are booked for months.......................Good Luck!!!!

Glad I asked! I called Tesla and they said you get the universal wall connector with the truck.

it sounds like that’s not the case. Meaning… I’d need to double on labor and materials. Buy a wall connector in the interim and have an installer put it in (figure $2k total)…

then once a Tesla certified PowerShare person comes along… they redo all that work with a new connector that comes with the truck.

False.

The Mobile Connector included with the Cybertruck can charge at 32 amps or over 7.5 kW per hour. That means it can add over 700 kWh to the battery over 4 days, except the battery is only 123 kWh. Which means you just under-exaggerated by over 5 times the true charge speed.

You need to find a Tesla supercharger or another type of EV charging station nearby for the interum period until your PowerShare and Universal charger is installed. The PowerShare and Universal charger are included with the purchase of the FSCT, but they don’t “come with the FSCT” at delivery. Tesla will only ship the electrical components to a Tesla certified electrician. You can see the certified electricians near you on the Tesla site. Search for Tesla certified electricians. If you have a 240v 14-50 outlet in your garage, that will be a great charger with the mobile charging cord. The 14-50 outlet is typical of what an electric clothes drier uses.

False.

The installer wouldn't need to "redo all that work", they would simply wire your already installed Wall Connector to the Powershare equipment instead of the breaker in your panel.

You could also use the Mobile Connector that comes with the truck until you get the Powershare equipment installed.

There have only been a few instances of equipment being available before the vehicle, so don't count on that.
The Cybertruck comes with the mobile charging cord with the NEMA 15-20 (120V) and 14-50 (240V) adapters. These can be used once you get the truck.

The NEMA 15-20 uses a standard wall plug which should get you about 30 miles in 12 hours. If you need more, then you would want to use the NEMA 14-50 adapter.

If you don't have a higher capacity plug in your garage, you will need to get one installed. It can vary in price dramatically depending on where your main panel is and how far and tough it is to run the cable.

If you want to get things started, you can get the electrician to install a (up to) 60A circuit, but for now, use a NEMA 14-50 high quality socket. When you get the wall adapter in, it's a quick and easy process for the electrician to swap out the two.

Of course, since you will probably get another EV in the future, if you have the capacity, just run a 100A circuit into a subpanel in the garage and that could handle two EVs.

I have had 3 wall connectors installed by a certified electrician that knows BEVs and each time it was about $500 in labor (add a breaker on the main panel, run the wire, install the WC, test), and of course the WC itself. Bay Area Coastside. Not sure how you got $2K unless there is a lot more electrical work than just hooking up a WC.

I have a Universsl Wall Connector on a 60 A breaker and it charges to 48 A, 11.5 kW.

but it sounds like you don’t get the wall connector right away?

So I would need to use the slower mobile connector until the Tesla certified installer is able to come.

Yes, I believe the Wall Connector gets shipped to the installer. But the discussion was about installing one yourself out-of-pocket and then having the electrician interface it with the Home Powershare system.

Since you are starting the EV adoption from scratch (most of us early Cybertruck Reservationists already have home charging), you will want two Wall Connectors anyway, assuming you are a two car family. Because you are eventually going to be replacing your ICE car with an EV soon. And charging two EV's on one charger is not as convenient as each one having its own dedicated charging plug. Especially since you live in a climate with cold winters.

False? lmao. with the provided 120 adapter yes it does. Guess you didn't get a truck yet. Well when you do you'll see that with the 120 adapter 3 pronger it does. The 14 50 plug adapter with provided charger will get 32 amps yes so maybe you don't read well or understand what you read and just jump up and scream when your brain farts and go off!! LMFAO AT YOU ALL DAY!! GFY Bully
