I look forward to the Donut video, and I want to follow the progress with perfecting the Protectaclear process.

It seems like a good alterative.
I bought a small jug to apply on a panel on the frunk.
I'm also doing a test where I use various ppf's to see how well it holds up as well as nothing to see if its really worth it.

Definitely feels higher than the X. X felt small after driving CT for a week. X was best car I ever drove for comfort and visibility as I have a tall torso. Not as much headroom in CT but still good. If the visors could fold out of way reasonably glass forward would be similar. I removed rear view mirror as it blocked my vision to right, on screen works much better with larger field of view.
This is EXACTLY how I feel. X was my main driver.. Loved it. WHen I drive the CT for a week i'm like get me back in the CT.
But yeah.. I wish the sunvisors could move away giving us more visibility and head room

Chicago Auto Pros. I have had several Teslas and other cars tinted and the Red Vinyl put on the motorcycle in the picture above. Always great work. They did a full video shoot when they did my truck.

on the highway the Cayenne noticeably more nimble. When CT is in sport mode (lower suspension 8,5” clearance and focused handling) it does awesome hitting gaps in lane changes and corners ramps at speed. If in comfort (10” clearance and relaxed handling) highway lane changes still great (it auto lowers to 8.5 at speed), but corners and ramps at speed feel a bit uncomfortable.

Cayenne has less roll and handles better because of lower weight and feels sportier due to smaller size. CT feels plenty fun and has noticeable better acceleration than base Cayenne, especially without all the downshifting.
Thanks for sharing more insights. I'm also expecting what you just mentioned. Cayenne cornering is going to be much better, but CT acceleration and ride experience might be more fun.

wow, tough challenge, Porsche is tough to beat in handling...they use unicorn dust on their suspension! :)
Yeah I agree. I have test driven several luxury cars. When I test drove Porsche, I fell head over heels on how it handles the corners. I also felt the vehicle adapts to your driving skills. When you are cruising around, it's just regular car. Once you start pushing the limits, it turns into a beast. I know the tech Porsche uses, but they must be putting some unicorn dust as well. You will be doing cornering at high speeds and you feel like it's going in a straight line. It's an engineering marvel. I'm so sad to sell my Porsche now to make room for CT!

tinted front windows and windshield, also in process with ProctectaClear coating. Both done by great local detail shop. They never did this costing before, did apply ceramic to all plastic and tonneau cover. ProtectaClear definitely stops the finger prints. Application was not perfect. I have been further experimenting and think I have the process dailed in.
Yeah can you talk more about application not being perfect. Our detailer had a helluva time trying to coat my truck in it to the point where he spent extra days stripping it all off because he said it looked really bad and he didn't feel comfortable with putting his name behind it. In the end they used up all my provided acetone, 2 extra days in the shop, and applied some dquartz instead. Didn't charge me extra (or at all) for this line item in the invoice.

there seems to be a theme here. It’s not an easy coating to apply and I haven’t read of anyone getting really good results. I’m going to keep playing with it, but the company needs to provide better guidance if they are offering a “Cybertruck kit”

I tried thicker coats as suggested here in an earlier post and the sagging and drips was really bad. Even after sitting overnight. It is self smoothing, but maybe only to an extent.

I read all the directions and watched the videos from the company again and was able to get really good results. Still got bad results as well. It is a Goldilocks situation with the retailers going wayyyy too thin, what feels like too thick is right and ridiculously thick will run and not settle. I was surprised the way too thick settled better than expected, but the super thick single coat looks like a layer on the surface. The correct thickness looks really good. I think the detailers need some experience and they will have no issue.

the sun helped a ton to smooth and set the results. I imagine the heat in a garage would work well too. All in the instructions from the company, but it does need a little practice. Hard to capture in pics, what I describe is obvious from many angles less than 10 feet away, further than that it all blends away.

Tailgate image with “foundation”’is typical of too thin, rainbows visible and can see stripes from thickness variation.

Frunk image is a pretty perfect panel in person, uniform, can’t tell it’s coated and pleasing satin sheen.

door image is way too thick, can see runs that have not blended, but it has only been a day. Can’t believe how much it has smoothed. Appears glossy compared to the other panels.

I will try xylene repair of the super thick before stripping and recoating. The too thin can be corrected with a nominal coating on top. I can see how this material needs one correct thickness, not multiple thin coats. I will talk to detailer with results, I would have preferred to pay and get it perfect. Hopefully others can benefit.

Correct, in Baja mode it allows wheel
Spin and showers of dirt/rocks. 100% rear is like driving my old mustang in the rain, it will spin the fronts as well.
