Deep Scratch on Hood at Delivery

So I just picked up my cyberbeast this morning. It took almost 2 hours to get it prepped. First the battery was almost dead so they had to put in to charge for 40 minutes. Then when they were about to bring it out they discovered a long (5-6 inches) and very deep scratch on the hood upon inspection there are several smaller ones as well. They said they would try to fix it but obviously they couldn’t and it looks like they buffed it so badly that there is now discoloration spots on the hood on top of the scratches. Anyway I have a service request and they said they would take care of it but when and how I have no idea. I assume I need a new hood.
It’s a bit of a bummer but I absolutely love the car otherwise.

Congrats on the truck, sorry to hear about the scratches.

What do you mean by "have a service request"? If you did it in the app, you should have of received scheduled time slot.

Make sure you take photos of the issues and create a request in the app ASAP so you can document all the delivery issues - when we took delivery of our last tesla (last summer) it was 100 miles or 48 hours to do this, not sure what it is now. Even if the delivery team promised to take care of it, I'd still recommend doing this.

Thank you! Yes the Tesla employee took pictures of it with my phone and entered it in the application for a service request. I have not received a date to bring it in yet though.
I’m not too familiar with the Tesla application since it’s my first Tesla. I doubt they will have the part anytime soon though.

You're right, they've changed this in the app - I just created a new request. It used to make you select a location & time up front (and then after waiting 30+ days, they'd cancel the appointment the night before when they didn't have the part). I guess this is progress

I had a dent in my hood on delivery 3/26. They ordered a replacement hood and it is being installed today, 4/23. Wonder what causes a hood dent/scratch? I thought about what I would do with the old hood, and a piece a sheet metal hanging on the garage wall did not appeal to me.

That's really cool - thanks for sharing. I have some aerospace grade CF left over from a project last year. Maybe I'll get ambitious and try to do a similar layup and see how it looks

CF would also look better than the wheel well plastic too. Hmm..

I asked, but they refused. Told me that it would go back to factory for root cause analysis.

The proprietary ultra hard SS is pretty hard to dent. Can you share a pic?

I've tried to get a picture and with the small dent and the stainless finish, you can't see anything in a picture. I wouldn't have even noticed the dent at delivery, but the Tesla delivery guy pointed it out.
