Every Tesla gets base autopilot. It would go against pretty much everything they stand for to leave one of their vehicles without it. It absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt is coming soon. They’re waiting for their lab rats (aka, us) to gather FSD data before cutting it loose. Here’s my specs, base autopilot is already listed. It’s on the window sticker, too.

@ABILISK, I think the problem is the definition of "Autopilot" for the Cybertruck. Yours and Tesla's might be different.

I've copied the text below from the current version of the Cybertruck Owners Manual. It clearly states Tesla's definition of "Autopilot" as it applies to the Cybertruck. The key sentence in the text is:
"Basic Autopilot includes Traffic-Aware Cruise Control."

All of the other features described in this text are listed under Full Self Driving; Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control, Auto Park, and (somewhat confusingly) Full Self Driving.

So there is (basic) Autopilot, which doesn't include auto steering. And there is Full Self Driving, which includes auto steering along with other self driving features.

And, there is this note in the text that gives Tesla a wide leeway if anything in the manual does work that way for us:
"Depending on date of manufacture, software version, and vehicle configuration, your vehicle may not be equipped with the following features, or a feature may not operate exactly as described."

It's possible that auto steer could be added to Cybertruck's Basic Autopilot in the future, but that's not the case now.

Here's the Owner's Manual text.....

About Autopilot
Autopilot is a suite of advanced driver assistance features that are intended to make driving safer and less stressful. None of these features make Cybertruck fully autonomous or replace you as the driver. Autopilot features come standard with all new Tesla vehicles.
Note
Depending on date of manufacture, software version, and vehicle configuration, your vehicle may not be equipped with the following features, or a feature may not operate exactly as described.
Basic Autopilot includes Traffic-Aware Cruise Control.
  • Traffic-Aware Cruise Control: Maintains your speed and an adjustable following distance from the vehicle in front of you, if there is one (see Traffic-Aware Cruise Control).
Warning
Basic Autopilot is a hands-on feature. Keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times and be mindful of road conditions, surrounding traffic, and other road users (such as pedestrians and cyclists). Always be prepared to take immediate action. Failure to follow these instructions could cause damage, serious injury, or death.

Full Self-Driving includes additional features that are designed to further reduce driver workload and make common actions, such as changing lanes or parking, easier.
  • Traffic Light & Stop Sign Control: Maintains your speed, keeps a following distance, and keeps Cybertruck in its lane while also slowing down and stopping for traffic lights and stop signs (see Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control).
  • Full Self-Driving (Supervised): Attempts to drive to your destination by following curves in the road; stopping at and negotiating intersections, stop signs, and roundabouts; making left and right turns; and entering/exiting highways (see Full Self-Driving (Supervised)).
  • Autopark: Parks Cybertruck, either parallel or perpendicularly (see Autopark).

Yes, BA includes TACC (and more). TACC just exists because lane changes are a bit of a nuisance in BA.

I don’t have anything solid to offer you for peace of mind that it’s coming, so I guess for now just try to enjoy what you have and you’ll be pleasantly surprised someday.

Auto-pilot does not have lane-keep. That we know before our FSD got uploaded.

If you bought FSD and it's not there yet (hint, latest software update 5.3 etc), then only Tesla can answer that question for you and solve it.

Thanks, but no worries, I have FSD, but I join everyone who doesn't in hoping that basic autosteer will upgraded to at least hold the vehicle in the lane, even if it doesn't include lane changes, etc...

If lane centering (autosteer) can be done within the FSD stack ...
Then is Tesla purposely not including that feature in the Base Autopilot suite (2 features/parts)
So they can twist peoples arms to purchase FSD for profit and raising FSD sales counts?

Cybertruck does not have both actual autopilot suite of two features like every other Tesla. It only has TACC. Manual confirms it. See below.
Autopilot = Autosteer (lane centering) + TACC (aka. Adaptive Cruise Control)
If a Cybertruck owner did not purchase FSD (exits, etc) then they'd not have Autopilot just TACC (distance following) but not lane centering.

Tesla Model X manual shows complete Autopilot with TACC and Autosteer.

As of my creating this thread, Tesla Cybertruck manual previously stated that Basic Autopilot included both TACC and Autosteer.

In the Tesla Autopilot page it still shows this definition.

I'm still crossing my fingers for this to be added to the CT. I currently don't find FSD useful for me in daily driving so I use FSD as "autopilot" with no destination set, but it will often do unpredictable things.

I know for sure my ModelY had LaneKeep assist as an option to turn on, without AutoPilot or FSD..

I understand the logic behind not needing it because FAD effectively does this for you, but it a safety aid like autobrake.. And my BroncoSport has it. ?

I was sursprised when the system started yelling, but did not help correct..

From the Software page on my CT it reads “Autopilot enables your car to steer, accelerate and brake automatically for other vehicles and pedestrians within its lane.”
see pictures:

SC told me to get on this forum to request others keep pushing for Tesla to enable Autosteer on the CT. Since FSD is functional it’s just a matter of enabling the Autosteer option.

Seems like the functionality is present but disabled. When I try to enable Autosteer by pressing the right scroll wheel twice I get a notification msg stating “Autosteer not enabled. Go to Autopilot settings”

On the phone Tesla Customer support adamantly and repeatedly confirmed to me that Autosteer is supposed to be part of Basic AP for the CT. I hope they’re right because Autopilot, specifically Autosteer, is my number one favorite feature of my older Model S and a big reason why I purchased CT. I know it may sound silly but without Autosteer my opinion of this truck changes a lot and I would not buy it again without Autosteer, and if it never gets enabled I will feel like I bought this truck under a false pretense. Anyone else feel the same?

FWIW I just got off the phone with Tesla and he recommended I set up a service appointment to get Autosteer added. He said it should be there but there is a permissions issue he cannot do anything about.

Update: So a few days ago I setup a service appt to fix the missing Autosteer feature. Backstory is I have been to SC twice previously to fix the issue and I’ve been getting conflicting info from the SC. Today, a gentleman called me from the SC and told me the Autosteer feature is officially not currently available for the CT. He tried to get an official answer from Tesla HQ as to when it would be released but they would not confirm anything, even internally. They would not even confirm if Autosteer will ever be available for CT. After more discussion he told me unofficially he believes Autosteer will be available for CT, it’s just a matter of when.

So, it would seem the more we rally together on the various forums about the issue and insist it needs to be released for CT, the better chance we have of actually getting the Autosteer feature for our CTs since we know Tesla does visit and monitor the various forums. Here’s to waiting and hoping :/

I wonder how many people Tesla will get to pay for FSD with this "trickery" -- eg. people get impatient.

I am looking forward to Autosteer for long roadtrips though the truck drives so easily it is not that bad. Have done two over 1,200 mile road trips with only TACC. FSD just makes stupid lane changes and is annoying (to me) to use on the freeway/higway.
