Imagine my surprise in seeing a picture of my truck linked with this article that I didn’t post. ?

Not a complaint in any way, I’m flattered. I just don’t know how it happened. I was like hey that looks really familiar … wait a tick … that’s my truck!

Good. [sorry, not sorry]
Wouldn't surprise me if the frunk was manual as well.
Downgraded sound system.
Maybe no heated steering wheel. No ventilated seats.

All cost saving measures to make it an entry level vehicle.
Brother, it’s fully manual! 0 to 60 is going to be … infinity.

If it’s optional I’m OK with Tesla’s de-contenting strategy.

I‘m not surprised by the move. I remember Lars stated during an interview that leadership may make the tonneau cover optional on the RWD trim to help keep it affordable.

Wasn’t that pic from when your tonneau didn’t want to close properly or something? Hope it’s working now!

That’s exactly right. No not yet because the auto-calibration (as others suggested when I discovered that feature) was only a temporary fix and so it’s reverted to this behavior.

I was supposed to have it fixed when I got my winter tires but that hasn’t happened because they keep moving my appointment out because they don’t have the damn tires! I’m currently reschedule rescheduled for January 30 (this is the 4th time I’ve been rescheduled). Assuming my appointment isn’t moved again, they will be looking at my cover then.

In the meantime it’s pretty trivial so I don’t care I just have to ease it closed by tapping the button once it gets to that point. Minor inconvenience and since some people indicated that the repair involves replacing the entire roller assembly I don’t wanna be without my truck for something that stupid.

I honestly can’t even complain about not getting my winter tires yet, too much, since we haven’t had a single flake of snow this winter and barely any rain in the last 12 months.

But back on topic, I think it’s wise to have a variant that doesn’t have any of this stuff. I know that they like to software lock some things but I suspect that when it comes to the outlet, they will remove the hardware. IIRC from an early CT video on Tesla Time News there are some redundancies between the outlets inside the car and outside which would seem that they would save money by just not putting it in in the first place.

And while maybe it would hurt people who want to use it as a work truck it would also incentivize them to move up the trim level and for folks who just want to have a mall cruiser it would be no big loss.

AC outlet option for RWD? May be worth it. Hope this means price is being minimized.

for me it's not the Price but the size-just too big. Midsize Cybertruck makes sense for both domestic & international market.

We need the big size, but a covered back with HVAC, like CyberSUV would be ideal.

Not sure if people who use trucks for work will go for it if there are no AC outlets :(
My hope is they would have turned their brains on and bought the right tool for the job they need done so won’t have to worry about it. Hahaha!

Right, so when do you think this $30,000 truck will be for sale.

Maybe it will be an option for some foreign markets, say GigaMexico, just like their Mexican-built M3’s are missing features that are standard in the U.S.
