Tesla has to dump Elon. He's managing to piss off the entire country. It will hurt all Tesla sales.
They certainly need a strategy of some kind to deal with that.

1. Roof racks are special use case, not every vehicle has one or needs one. AC is not special use case, every vehicle has it and the cybertruck is no exception here. No physical controls = poor design choice which we will see outdated in the next decade. People are burned out on screens and want more tactile experiences. But if you want to do everything from an Ipad for the sake of aesthetic be my guest. taking your eyes off the road to adjust your temperature on a screen is a wreck waiting to happen. it requires more effort and concentration to make sure your fingers aren't slipping around on a greasy screen lol.
2. the lack of a handle on the outside is a safety hazard. Thinking otherwise is just silly. More than one case has already come out about parents EVs locking them out with their infant in the back of a hot car. And no this was not the parents fault, there was an issue with the vehicle that basically bricked the car after exiting. thankfully glass is glass, and glass breaks so no dead babies. But still this should not be an issue in the 21st century. Removing the handles was a cost cutting strategy, nothing more. (yes I would happily pay more for physical handles)
3. Great point, EVs should have a neutral point in their gear selection tree. Would make them better if/when they need to be towed. Rather than drag it up a ramp, we can finally roll it so we dont damage the motors, tires, drive components, etc. Also, I think you are confusing a gear selector for manual transmission, they are similar but not the same. Gear selectors are usually found in automatics, not manual transmission vehicles. However since you said you failed drivers ed in an automatic i'll give you some grace there. Automatics all have different methods of doing the same function.
4. With every button that opens something in the Cybertruck, there is a physical redundancy in place in case the button fails....Buttons aren't magic, there has to be a physical mechanism in place to keep things closed. Just remove the button and give me a lever to pull since its already there anyway, just hidden from sight.
5. Thats a silly thing to say, under the bed is better than not there at all lol. Who says the battery and motors have to be where they currently are? I'm sure we can push/pull some walls to make space for a tire under there without sacrificing everyones precious ground clearance. No, adding an air filled spare tire will not raise your center of gravity. It will actually do the opposite, do you think spare tires will just float off your car if not bolted down? Plus, doesn't the truck have air suspension to raise it up to have 17in of ground clearance? isn't that "raising your center of gravity"? I say they add the spare and jack the truck up another 3in just to be safe.

Still love the truck, just think it wasn't designed for truck people. obviously. If anything it is a really cool car with a truckbed.

The "work truck" and towing arguments are kind of pointless. Modern truck owners, for the most part, don't use their truck like a truck.
There was a MaritzCX (A consumer data analysis and market research firm) study several years ago that found 96% of light duty truck owners don't tow over 10k lbs, and over 70% of owners tow 1 time or less per year. Based on those numbers, there are a lot of people who are FoS about how they use their truck. Some of them might be in the thread with us now.

That doesn't matter. Truck owners buy trucks with tow packages for the potential for towing. Many of those don't believe the CT is capable to fit that need.

I think the work truck moniker is dumb, but the CT is certainly not a fleet truck...which is where a majority of F150 sales comes from.

#1-9: No supporting evidence given.

Why do people think this is persuasive or an argument to just make statements without backing them up?

#7 and #8 are also just flat false. #7 - There powered mechanism does not in fact indicate there's a manual mechanism penetrating the structure. #8 - The wheel and tire are less dense than the motor or battery pack, and hence, putting the tire there raises your center of gravity.

Yes, we understand that you have opinions, but those are not facts.

Yeah, but... Most work trucks don't tow, either! They're carrying tool boxes or just a crew or a small load that fits in the back. That's why vans are so popular, but trucks are the default because traditionally they're cheaper than vans, new, and more capable of rutted roads.

I could tow my motorcycles or extra plywood or whatnot, but I want a truck so I don't have to tow loads like that up mountain roads.

So I think the future for the CT is going to be using the platform its built on and making a CYBER-Tahoe type SUV or CYBER-ESCALADE. A large SUV. It would need traditional styling, not the angular style of the cybertruck and a larger battery like a 180KW.

So in its current form, the CT is a novelty, I hope Tesla doesn't go down the path of price slashing only to find out it didn't work (sort of how they did on the Model S/X after the refresh).
IMO, Tesla needs to get fleets. Actively give huge discounts/chargers/support or whatever it takes to get some airports/mail/etc. Rivian gets a lot of respect and free advertising from Amazon deliveries.

They had them. And then Elon dropped the price of cars dramatically leaving his partners Hertz and others holding the bag. So, there’s another door closed.

1. & 2. https://insideevs.com/news/708867/scout-motors-buttons-interview/
Detailed article explaining how automakers are reversing course after consumer pushback on screens.

https://www.torquenews.com/11826/my...road-no-power-im-locked-out-how-do-i-get-back
two articles about two different vehicles locking users out for different reasons, one is not about infants but it still applies since the situation is inherently worse as a parent..

4. & 7. See the manual https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modely/en_us/GUID-AAD769C7-88A3-4695-987E-0E00025F64E0.html the lever is there, just give us the lever!

6. https://www.myleswreckerservice.com...nts-of-emergency-towing-for-electric-vehicles
wrecker service that explicitly states: " Emergency towing services often use traditional tow trucks with hooks and chains. These methods are not suitable for EVs, especially all-wheel drive (AWD) and rear-wheel drive (RWD) models. Towing an EV with these methods can cause severe damage to the electric motor, drivetrain, and high-voltage battery system, leading to very, very expensive problems." if there were a Neutral option to disengage the motors from the wheels, there would be no issue.

8. Not false, its physics. Stop manipulating what others say to fit your argument. putting a full size tire below the vehicle, behind the battery even (assuming we maintain the same mass) will not move the center of gravity up. at most it will move it down a touch since there is now more mass on the vehicle. Go throw 50 lbs. in the back of your car and measure what the ground clearance is before and after, it may shock you what you find. Ground clearance and Center of Gravity have a direct correlation in the design of trucks, you cannot change one without changing the other without severely altering the dimensions of the truck. So, Adding mass= lower center of gravity. This may affect range, but so does eating two big burritos while you wait for it to charge. The only way to raise the center of gravity of the truck AS ITS CURRENTLY DESIGNED is to raise the ride height, or install the spare tire above the current center of gravity which currently sits somewhere between 12-19in above the ground depending on your ride height chosen. With your standard CT wheel/tire package, you are looking at most an increase in weight of >1%. I think "most" engineers would see that as a near negligible weight increase, obviously not the ones at tesla. I feel like you are purposely trying to gaslight people in this forum lol.

9. Common sense and Market research. Don't really feel like I need to provide evidence on the obvious facts of life here. Cope.

when it comes to designing products for truck buyers/owners, their opinions on the product should be taken as factual data.

TLDR: I'm right, you're wrong, touch grass.

Yep must be me! ?. Pretty easy for a dude from Texas to forget about snow plows ?. Yep, I’m FoS! ?? Look where I live, chief! ?

I could give a shit about your market research and who could care less how many times a year someone tows. I have a diesel because I can. That’s why *I* bought it. Whether I tow once a year or 20, snowplow once a year or 10 times… who gives a flying fuck? It’s my money, and I bought it for that convenience. So the only person who is FoS is a guy like you who likes to press his “market research” on others who make their own decisions.

Man, the fanboy-ism in this thread is nauseating. I own both a CT and a diesel and 2 gasser trucks. They all have their niche and do well for what they do, I have enough money to buy them all… for convenience.

That makes me FoS? You sound like the Cyberstuck idiots who say we are morons because we bought the CT, wasted our money, and must be incels for buying into it. How about respect those who enjoy diesels AND the CT… while using the right hammer for the right nail.

‘Nuff said.

  1. ...doesn't say what you want it to say. It's an opinion piece from an automaker trying to differentiate themselves from their troubled past. It doesn't say anything about actual sales or costs.
  2. ...neither of these stories are confirmed by the websites, they're just posted copyright infringement. Also, both of these could have happened whether or not there were electronic locks! You step out of your car with manual locks it doesn't care and locks you out. If this could happen in my '73 Nova with zero electronics, pretty sure it's not an electronics issue.
  3. ...doesn't show evidence for what you want. At all. This engages with the inside lever inside the cabin and skips the locking mechanism. You want something that has an external mechanical lock and penetrates the door structure and insulation. And you can pull on; this lever doesn't do that, you lean on the door instead.
  4. ...this applies to all AWD vehicles in unknown states, ICE and EV. And you want a physical neutral, you're going to have to select a non-EV. It's not required for an EV to function, it's just dead weight; only expensive EVs will ever have this as an option.
  5. ...your own physics prove yourself wrong. It either does, or doesn't: and it does. You can't just say 'it doesn't!' Well you can, but you'll be wrong. That's how math works.
  6. ...No evidence given, just insults.
You really need to learn the difference between facts and opinions. Also, nowhere did I insult you while you insult our intelligence.

Let me preface this post by stating that I love the Cybertruck. I’m an early day 2 reservation holder and patiently waiting for prices to drop before pulling the trigger.

I think Q1 and Q2 are going to be rough for Tesla. Zero new products except for the refreshed Model Y.

I am optimistic regarding the 2nd half of the year because an all new lower priced vehicle is rumored to go on sale. Tesla is being very tight lipped regarding details. Also, the refreshed Model Y should be hitting higher production numbers as the kinks get worked out on the assembly line.

Regarding the Cybertruck. If MSRP's stay the same for the remainder of 2025 I don't see the Cybertruck beating 2024 delivery numbers (around 38,000 units). Why?

-The first adopters have adopted
-The unorthodox styling is considered ugly by many. Some refer to it as a dumpster on wheels
-The $80+ premium price point plus current finance rates limits the buyer pool
-A lot of potential buyers won't even consider a Cybertruck because of the association with Mr. Musk. His politics/comments have alienated a lot of buyers from considering a Tesla product. They wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole.
You should understand Musk MO. I believes he knows q1 and q2 will be bad. What he often does is to make empty promises to keep the stock high. Then when the due date for those empty promises are not met he changed it to a next 6-12 months away, keeping investors invested. Like a carrot tied onto a rat.

I can almost guarantee there will not be a cheaper model this year. You should only expect at most an unveiling and plans to go on sale in 2026, again to keep the stock high. But likely won't be until 2027 when customers will be receiving it.

Yeah, I tend to drive locally with it open as it makes it more familiarly "trucklike" both for me and lookers. That applies for the rear-view mirror as well, though that tends to remind me that the camera does a far better job.
I like it! You’re advertising the truck bed every day. I might start doing that too.

My dad was a journeyman electrician for decades never owned a truck. This was his work truck:

IMG_3137.jpeg

Not this exact one, but a ‘74 - just remove the spoiler and that’s the car! I also had a banana yellow ‘74, with giant BFGs, Centerline wheels and air shocks, in my 20s.

Cybertruck is my first truck. What I like is going fast! Family tradition!

My dad now has my old ‘15 C7 and a model Y Performance. Has still never owned a truck. Thinks my cybertruck is hideous!
great memories, had the same in “aqua” color- bought new for $5500 bucks with 8 track?
