the reservation price was baked into the foundation series, otherwise it's currently $1,000 more than when the CT was announced.

anywho, the ToS clearly states what the program is and isn't. Tesla has not engaged in a single bit of false advertising.
Funnily enough you're making the same assumption as some Tesla people I talked to. I didn't order a FS truck, I ordered a base truck. I had an option at the time of ordering (Oct 2024) to have FSD for $7K, but given they had a trial going on I thought I'd try it first so I placed the order without it. Then less than a week later (after I tested the trial FSD) I tried to reach out to Tesla and purchase the FSD at that price, but there was no way to do it anymore.

I'm sure they're covered under the ToS from the legal standpoint. I am just saying that's a new weird concept in sales - you purchase a product, and then the vendor says "nope, you violated conditions of use so we'll disable it." So you sort of still own it, but you can just brag and not harvest any utility.

Hence the thread we had on here before wherein I mentioned if Tesla kept video and audio they would catch me yelling “Oh Jesus Christ, FO!!!”
nice but that is mild...Mine are rated RR, V, EF. (road rage, violence and extreme frustration.) It happened again today, watching the road, it starts flashing and beeping and I look down to see wtf is going on, only to prolong the beeping and flashing. I was NOT looking at the screen when it started makin noise. I was looking out the windshield.

Just curious: do you keep the rear camera display window on the left side of the display, or on the right side over the map?

I've noticed lately that it's frequently turning off the visual attention monitoring for some reason. Dunno if it's changes in lighting, or a bug in the inside camera firmware, or what. In any case, when it does this it seems to start a timer and, if you haven't given a driving input within some window of time, it displays the "apply light pressure" warning thing on the screen.

I find this message easy to miss if I'm looking out the windshield and daydreaming or whatever.

However, I keep the rear camera view up on the left side of the monitor (and not over the map on the right side). In order for the truck to display the "apply light pressure" message, it has to move the rear camera view display over so there's room for the popup. This is a big enough change on the display that it draws my eye and that's when I see the warning (in time to act on it).

i think that message is when I lose connectivity because I am usually listening to Sirius and I see the loading wheel symbol loading...

But I don't use the camera for the rear view. Drove a truck all my life so I am used to driving without one.

Have either of you guys actually read the Terms of Service for the FSD software package? Serious question.
No. And that’s a good point. The devil is in the details as far as lawsuits go and I’m sure they did everything they could to advertise a car that drives itself while writing down whatever is necessary to absolve themselves of any wrong doing. But that’s still for a court to decide.

I had no idea FSD was something to be paid for. While overall I like FSD, it’s Karen-esque nature makes me feel like I’m the product, like I’m serving Tesla, not the other way around.

if I had to pay for FSD, I’d pay $500. I live 2 miles from the hospital I work at. I don’t drive much, but every month or two I’ll take a few hour road trip and FSD is a nice to have for that…FSD screws up way less on highway than local roads where it can’t tell you are looking where the car is going because it’s making a long turn. Even for those driving a lot, $7000 seems steep though.

As someone that has been using Autopilot for a long time, before the vision awareness. Couple of thing, you don’t need a violent shake, just gentle pressure, but it has to be for at least a second or two, it polls for input. Or even better, press any button on the steering wheel, a slight up or down on the volume or max speed works best.

Also the blue flashing is annoying, because sometimes its telling me to pay attention, sometimes its telling me its not going to brake. I know its not going to brake, my foot’s on the gas pedal, what a stupid alert.

Honestly, Sorry if this has been brought up before (Didnt read the 5 pages before this in its entirety). Here are my observations.

1. the "Eye tracking" seems to be on a Block of time... Between 5 - 10 seconds. depending on how fast the vehicle is going.
1a: If at the beginning of that block of time, the truck sees your eyes, you "pass" the test for the next 5-10 seconds (depending on how fast you are going). If it sees you are looking away, you "Fail" the test and it asks for an input.

2. This block of time doesn't start until the vehicle is moving.
2a: I.E If you are stopped, you can look at your phone or away from the road for as long as you like without the input nag.

3. the key is, make sure you are looking at the road at the "Beginning" of this block of time as the vehicle will give you a "Pass" for the next 5-10 seconds. (5 seconds is a long time at 70mph)

hope this helps. This information is not based on fact just my observations but maybe someone can confirm @CyberGus @greggertruck

Alas, that's how we get so many 'but it was in Autopilot/FSD' collisions that get in the news. They rarely cover when we find out they had their foot on the go pedal the whole time.

When I timed it at ~5 secs today, I was at highway speed (40-50 MPH). I’ve not measured at other speeds, but I do recall being annoyed by the nags when I slowed to below 10 MPH to check something but was almost immediately flagged.

It would be worth a few grand if it could actually drive you places while you're taking a nap. We're anywhere from 2 to... 20 years from that though :D I was just driving using regular Cruise Control and the truck kept telling me my cameras are obstructed. Yes, it's dark on an unlit highway, it's neither snowing or raining, cameras are clean, but the video subsystem is seemingly degraded just from the lack of day or artificial light.

So you freely admit that you don't read the important context about the program, thereby you don't know how to properly use it, then come here to complain about it?
