Is it me or does the glass on the cybertruck seem fragile? No idea how this happened but I just got the truck a few weeks ago. I doubt Tesla will cover it. Anyone have any experience with a windshield replacement? Safelight is quoting $1350 but I’m sure Tesla would be at least 2k. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
UPDATE:
So I took my cyber truck in for service so they could determine what they could do for the windshield. They came to the conclusion that the chip was caused by a rock hit and it would not be covered under warranty. They wanted about $2600 including labor and tax to total replace the windshield. I opted to try to get my windshield crack filled in by a local windshield repair and that cost me about $120. I wasn’t expecting the crack to be totally fixed. I really just wanted it to be stopped from cracking even further. And being that it’s up in the top right hand corner of the glass. I can’t see it at all while I’m driving, so it’s not a huge deal. I was also trying to figure out a way to protect the larger chip from expansion from any possible water that might get in in expand when it gets freezing outside, you might laugh, but I thought about putting a tempered glass screen protector over the biggest part of the crack. I had a tempered glass screen protector for one of my phones just laying around so I use that I don’t think it looks half bad and it actually kind of blends in with the windshield. I really kind of wish somebody would make a full windshield tempered glass protector. It would still be less than replacing the whole windshield. Here are some before and after pictures also.
