I literally just switched to Progressive. $973 for 6 months vs USAA below. It’s insane. Going to switch all my cars tomorrow.

Just heard back from Tesla. Almost $2700. What a joke. Looks like I'm screwed driving around a hillbilly CT. Not paying that and not submitting to insurance to just make me pay it in the end through increased monthlies. Ugh.

In a lot of states, insurance companies can't raise your rates for things that are outside of your control; like a broken windshield. Double check your area.

Or just call your insurance company and straight up ask them.

This isn't exactly the topic of discussion, but if you are shopping for new insurance maybe check Amica. My 6-mo policy for 2020 Model Y + 2025 Cybertruck is $1704 with $100 deductable in NC.

Call your carrier, I've had to replace my Y windshield twice.

1) I don't think glass claims will raise your rates
2) driving around with a broken windshield is a ticketable offense so you may need to get it fixed after a ticket anyway
3) I'll bet your carrier directs you to SafeLite

This! I got a rock chip this weekend, and I will have my local windshield repair place fill it before it spreads. I've had them do this on other vehicles, and the fix was almost invisible. It's bound to happen again, so get it repaired, and then you can drive stress-free until the next one.

Be aware of Tesla's allowable repair zones, especially on passenger side.

In some states, like KY, insurance is required to replace windshields 1x a year at no expense. Call you insurance and see what's covered. Also, like @Docedward we moved all our cars over to Progressive and cut our bill dramatically when others wanted to raise ours for adding the CT and a new Model Y.

You might be able to tweak this policy and save a ton. A $2000 deductible dropped my yearly rate a lot. I have a beast and an old Tacoma(liability only) and pay $1000 a year for both. If I take off glass protection on the CT it goes to $750 a year for both vehicles.
