A similar thing happened to my FS CT. FSD hit a bump on the road, and the crack appeared. I was amazed 😲 and furious 😡. One minute the CT was fine, next minute it was not and all I did was drive down the road. My perfectly good CT now had an unsightly crack. An otherwise tough truck seems to have a weak point with Armor glass. Unless the windshield isn't Armored.

It did not spread as it sat in the garage for a week until the earliest SC appointment. Originally, I received a quote for $2,300 via the app.

At the SC, the technician initially thought it was from a rock, but after further inspection, he saw it came from under the seal. It was a stress crack. It was covered under warranty and only took 1 day to replace as they had already ordered the glass.

There seems to be an issue with how the windshield is mounted from the factory. Vibration from the truck or hitting a bump should not cause cracks in the windshield. Hopefully, Tesla fixes this among the other issues that are being reported about the glass.

Thanks for the advice -- I'm trying to stay positive and remind myself that it will be worth the wait. What's a few more days...

@Woodrick I'm definitely no stranger to the App and the service process, having had almost 10 Teslas in the family over the last 6 years -- this encounter seemed different though. Usually when I put in a service request, especially over the weekend, I'll get a call or text sometime the following Monday morning indicating that the request had been received and that they were in the process of reviewing. This time it was as if they hadn't even opened the service request when I called in the afternoon and were looking at it for the first time while on the phone. I had sent in pictures in the app as well and the indication was that they couldn't see them on their end even though I could see them in my app and they commented on the cracks. It didn't mesh with what I've experienced over the years with other service centers.

@CyberNickOH I do like the DIY PPF idea -- hopefully it will get sorted before I could have film shipped out. In the meantime, I am taking the opportunity to detail the rest of the truck and get it ready to show off once repaired :)
Could you please post your VIN series? Thanks!

How’s the wind noise after it’s been replaced? Is it louder in the truck or the same? I had my windshield replaced and the wind noise seems louder especially over 55 mph.

I can't really tell any difference. It seems that it depends more on the wind direction. Some days I can't hear anything, some days it's loud. Just like before.

The Cybertruck windshield is a HUGE piece of automotive glass. I think dividing the windshield into 2 smaller sections with two separate wipers would have been a better choice.

The 2 section windshield could have been supported by a vertical metal strip that runs from the roof to the base of windshield and incorporated into the BIW.

Frankly designing a bit of a curve would have helped more than anything. A flat surface is weaker than curved.

Then more curve maybe? I've never seen so many reports of cracks not from impacts, something is clearly wrong with the design or implementation.

Yes. This can be said for a lot of engineered components of this vehicle.
